Empire Records; Monday [ 03/12 ]

Chad had the feeling this was going to be a pretty mundane day. So he brought both guitar and dinos with him today. When he opened, he went around and put the dinos in random places about the store, and then went to kill time with random tasks and idle practise, and then later, when he went to do other things around the store, he hoped that he'd forgotten where he put the dinos and be pleasantly surprised to find them again in their random spots.

Sad thing was that he probably would be surprised and wonder at first how they got there before he remembered.

Today's Mix: Couldn't Be More Random if I Tried. He really needed to stop being lazy and finish his new mixes.

Pippi flounces down to Empire with her drumskicks and a conch shell.

Something here was different.

"Hey, Pippi," Chad greeted her. "Conch shell?"

"Yup!" Pippi said waving the conch shell. "You can play it like a bugle! ... Or, at least, I can."

"Really?" Chad asked, in a voice that hopefully conveyed that he'd really like to see and hear that.

"Oh yeah!" She said holding it up for him to see. "I've broken the tip off here to make a mouthpiece and you can change the pitch by how you blow into it and by moving your hand in and out of the opening!"

She put the shell to her lips and played it a bit.

It sounded... Kinda, not good.

"I'm a little out of practice."

Chad not-so-subtly rubbed the inside of his ear with his finger. "A bit, maybe," he said, because it was still pretty amusing. "But it's got promise."

Pippi nodded.

"Every shell is different, you have to get used to it... So! What's up?"

"Music?" Chad shrugged, then looked up and noticed that he'd managed to get triceratops stuck to the ceiling by her horns. "Dinos?"

"Musical dinos?"

And at that moment, Chad really wished his dinos were musical dinos.
"Nah. Jus' plastic ones. They're still cool, though."

"What are their names?"

"Um, well, there's Triceratops up there. I...don't remember where I put everyone else, but we've got T-Rex, Pterodon, Raptor, Brachiasaurus, Leoplurodon....you get the picture."

"He's cute" she said looking up at the ceiling. "Where'd ya get 'em?"

Chad shrugged. "Jus' bought 'em one day. I...can't really remember why or anything. Jus' did, I guess."

"Possibly so they could do interpretive dance to Strovinskie's Rite of Spring?"

Chad was pretty sure that wasn't it, but he said "....Possibly" anyway. He looked back up toward the triceratops in the ceiling, and wondered if it falling would be part of the interpretive dance.

"He's certainly stuck up there good huh?"

Chad nodded, keeping his head turned up. "I'm....kinda wondering how the hell I managed that."

"... You are very tall." Pippi nodded as she continued to watch the dino.

Chad grinned a little at that and turned his attention back to Pippi. "Not that tall."

"Are these little guys alive when nobody is looking?"

"They...turned alive once when I was looking..." Chad offered, in a tone that made it pretty clear that if Pippi was going to continue along this line of thinking, he was going to get very, very confused.

"What did they do when that happened?"

"Followed me here and then tried to eat each other."

There was a small pause. "Well, the carnivores tried to get the herbivores, anyway. It was like a miniature plastic version of Carnivorous Kingdom..." Which made it freakin' awesome in Chad's mind.

Pippi thought about that for a moment.
