Caritas - Friday evening [Open]

It was a quiet night. A quiet, dry night. Too quiet. Too dry.

That's why Tino dumped GOB's first glass of scotch of the night on him.

"What the hell?" GOB demanded to know. Tino put ten bucks down on the bar. GOB picked it up. "Fine. I'll forgive you this time."

Tino made a point to write on all of the napkins, "Dump a drink on GOB! $10!"

[OOC: I'm around and you can indeed dump drinks on GOB.]

"Easter," Rosette explained. "Therefor, the end of Lent, and the renewal of my previous drunken, meat-eating ways."

"Woo!" John exclaimed. "Only problem is that my still's still in pieces, and I'm not sure if Agatha'd let me rebuild it. Or if there's even room. She's tearing the place apart." John looked worried.

"I told you that you're free to use the church basement, if you need to," Rosette reminded him. With a poke to the side. Near a ticklish spot, but not quite at one.

"Hey! No tickling," he said, jerking away slightly. "You gave that up for Lent. And if the basement's open, consider it a done deal. As long as nobody interferes. That includes the dead guys and Chrono. Not that I don't like 'im, I just don't want him snapping things off like I did when I started it. Stupid pipes..."

"He'll be good, I promise. If anything, I can set up a holy barrier around the thing so that demons can't get near it." She bounced slightly for her resourcefulness.

"Good. I'll show 'im how to run it. Might make him one, or let him try a batch or two, if he doesn't try to kill me." He smiled at her bounciness. totally.not.dirty

"Oh, don't worry," Rosette patted his head assuringly. "He won't kill you. He knows that if he kills you, I kill him. So you're safe."

"That doesn't mean he likes me, and I'm sure that the still won't help. You're not gonna, like, kick him out of his room for it or anything?"

John totally doesn't start purring. Just a trick of the light. Er, yeah. He does place a hand on her leg to steady himself, though.

"I actually do think he's warming up to you a little, though." Rosette, rather pleased with the reaction, may have kept at the patting that turned a little into petting. Save for the hand on her leg, John was actually being genuinely cute, and that didn't happen often. "No, it'll be in the little room off the kitchen; no displacing people out of the bedroom at all."

"Good. He cares for ya, ya big goof. Like at the Nadia thing." He smiles, and squeezes her leg a bit without exactly noticing. "And he won't mind that I'd be over a lot?"

"He'll mind, yeah" Rosette smirked, "but he'll just have to get use to it."

"That's good. I dunno, he's a quirky little guy. Seems good, though."

"Definately is," Rosette sighed a little wistfully. "Been together since I was eleven, we have, so it's really no surprise he's so protective of me...." She grew quiet and distant for a moment. "Yeah...him and I go way back..."

"Wow. Eleven? I was... yeah. Those were fun years," John said, not really meaning it.

Rosette quirked an eyebrow at John's tone. "You, too, huh?"

"Only if you call weapons training, combat fighting, and strategy sessions on a daily basis fun. If I have a kid... Shit. Assuming that what's supposed to go down actually does go down, I'm not sure I would raise my kid any different. I hated my mom at times. Hated her. But once I saw what it was for, I managed to forgive her. MOstly."

"Some of it wasn't so bad," Rosette offered quietly, recalling up her own special weapons training, how bad she was at it at first, until they drove her into the ground and she proved them all wrong out of mere defiance...Yeah. Good times, those. "Besides, if you didn't go through all that, you wouldn't really be who you are today, and that wouldn't be a good. I rather like who you are today."

"I like who I am today too. Well, most days I like me. But," he said, focusing something off in the background, "like you said, if it hadn't happened, I wouldn't be here. I'd be dead. Doesn't mean I have to like it."

There was little doubt in Rosette's mind, as she quietly looked at John with thoughtful eyes, that she understood exactly where he was coming from. The same could be said for her. Being a nun, having to learn to fight to protect herself from things much, much more powerful than yourself, having your life being bound and sucked dry by a demon...none of them were exactly things she enjoyed too terribly, but they were things she had to do.

But she didn't say anything. Rarely did she feel that saying you understood ever really helped. She just took John's hand again and squeezed it tight. The gesture, she hoped, would say it for her.

He squeezed back like a lifeline. Didn't say anything, just rested his forehead on her shoulder.
