Ellen had had a pretty quiet week, which, she figured, was kind of a blessing around here.

Though the napkins she found on the bar when she got into work were an indication she'd missed something fun.

After responding to e-mails and fighting with Dean, Sam was starting to understand what people meant when they said they were driven to drink. He was worried about the possibility of Dawn siding with everyone else against him, and somehow, coming to Caritas seemed like a better idea than going back to the dorms.

"Hey Ellen," he said weakly, sliding onto a stool at the bar.

"Sam," Ellen said warmly, her smile fading slightly when she looked at him a moment. She didn't immediately launch into mothering, but it was a close thing. "You look like you could use a drink. What's your pleasure?"

"Um. Something that tastes good and will make me think today happened a lot differently?" he replied.

Sighing, Ellen mixed Sam a White Russian (http://www.drinksmixer.com/drink5014.html), setting it down in front of him with an arched eyebrow. "Need a shoulder to lean on?"

Sam mumbled a thank you and took the drink before shrugging. "I don't know, I just...maybe you'll understand. If Jo was dating somebody, and you found out that he used to be really dangerous before he got here, would you do whatever you had to do to get her away from him?"

Fraser walked in, looking around for a moment before coming up to the bar and smiling.

"Evening."

"Evening," Ellen replied, smiling at the stranger. "What can I get you?"

He'd had the alcohol here once, long ago. That'd been enough for him.

"Water, please," he answered, taking a seat. "How are you tonight?"

Getting him a glass of water, she smiled as she placed it on a coaster for him. "Not bad. It's kind of slow, but that's nice sometimes," she said. "How about you?"

"Besides the flooding?" He nodded his thanks for the water. "I suppose I can't complain. Not that I would. And yes, it does seem quiet in here. Perhaps the students are finding their fun elsewhere?"

"Barkeep!" Kawalsky said, bouncing up to the bar with green hair. "Please tell me you have green Guinness."

Sam walked in a few minutes later and burst out laughing when she spotted Kawalsky. "Do I want to know?" She asked, sliding onto a stool next to him.

"I didn't realize your hair was in danger," she snickered.

"It was in danger of not being green when I figured out I didn't have any hairspray left. Where's the green in your life, Sam? Have you abandoned it?"

Ellen cocked an eyebrow. "We got Guinness, but I don't believe in making perfectly good stout green," she said, amused.

"Not even a little green? Can't you stick some food coloring in there? It's St. Patrick's Day!"

"Sweetie, I know what day it is, I just don't hold to changing my drinks for it," she said, then smirked. "But if you're sure... Tino, get a green beer for the kid."

Tino was quick about it and had a greenified beer sitting in front of Kawalsky withim moments.

Whistling a jaunty Irish tune, Leo came in, wearing a green denim jacked and nothing else with a pin on it that said

Drinking, Laura knew, was supposed to be a social thing. And, for the most part, it really was. After reading the latest dispatch from Tory on New Caprica, however, she found she was in need of a stiff drink...and one that wasn't ambrosia. Grabbing her jacket, she'd headed for Caritas.

Stepping through the front door, she made her way to the bar and edged up onto a stool.
