Lana came in to work at the store wondering about the new owner and hoping they'd get along.

"I will be making some changes to the inventory of the store - not so much with the used and rare, though of course we'll still have sections for those." She wandered off down one of the aisles as she spoke. "We'll be having a number of books available from other worlds and I can order pretty much anything anyone would like. I'll also be trying to hire some additional people as I think you and I could use some help on that front."

"I thought perhaps some sort of contest? Best name gets a gift certificate or some such?"

She couldn't quite keep the smile off her face at Millie's cheerfulness. This was definitely someone she could enjoy working for.

Without waiting for a response from Lana she went on, "I'll be living in the apartment upstairs, but you needn't worry that I'll bother you too much while you're working. Feel free to swot away on your homework when it's quiet or whatever you choose, you clearly are more than willing to pull your weight around here from what I can tell. Oh yes, and Proudfoot, of course, will be wandering about. She's already claimed the front window as her very own. Don't mind her. Give her a pet now and then and she'll be happy as a clam."
"Are clams happy?" she wondered, then dismissed it, "Well, she is anyway, and Goddess knows, if Proudfoot's happy the rest of us can rest easier."

"Oh my, are you familiar with these new-fangled things?" Millie asked a little anxiously. "Gabriel said that most of the people here would be, but I do hate to assume..."

She smiled at Lana warmly. "And don't you worry about the inventory. I assure you I can do it amazingly quickly on my own - as long as you don't mind seeing the books moving through the air on their own or randomly appearing and disappearing. Magic, don't you know. Ever so handy for this sort of thing."

She headed off towards the back room. "Yell if you need me," she called, then popped her head back in the room. "I do think we'll get along just beautifully, Lana. And Proudfoot quite agrees. Ta, then!"
And she was gone.
