Caritas, Monday Evening [OPEN]

Jarod had spent most of Sunday asleep or groaning under the weight of his very first hangover--which he decided was something he could have done without ever experiencing, honestly.

Today, he was hoping that the band played something quiet. He also opened the doors so that Caritas could continue airing out--he couldn't figure out why the place smelled like a campfire.

Rory showed, still looking the worse for wear but feeling much, much improved. Since she didn't see Aeryn yet, she took a seat at the bar and smiled at Jarod. "Hey, Jarod. Can I have a mai tai?"

Millie wandered in happily, looking at everything and just looking pleased with life in general. "Hello there!"

The happiness Jarod might have shown at seeing Rory again was quickly swallowed by concern. "Coming right up." He started mixing the drink, "What happened?"

"Hello," he smiled back, "Welcome to Caritas. What can I get you to drink?"

Aeryn shows up finally, looking a little more rested, if not any happier. She orders a rum and Coke and greets Rory with a "Hey."

"Nothing too bad," she replied. "It's all superficial at this point. How have you been?"

"Hi," Rory says, waving with her drink. Which, naturally, has a tiny umbrella.

Jarod raised an eyebrow at the "at this point," but got the message that Rory didn't want to discuss it. "Pretty good, actually. Ready for graduation?"

"Oh goodness, I have no idea what sort of things you might have here."

Millie thought for a moment, then smiled. "Perhaps... do you have some sort of a beer?"

"Yeah, but I'll miss it here," she said with a wide smile. "I'm going to Yale."

"I think I can probably find something," he said, pouring her a pint. "Are you new to Fandom?"

"Congratulations!" He beamed at her, then added some cherries to her mai tai. "Do you know what you want to study yet?"

"Journalism," she answered promptly. "I'm going to get my degree and be an overseas correspondant."

"Those things again?" she asks, noticing the umbrella. She's pretty sure she ended up wearing one last time, not that she will ever admit it.

"Quite new," she agreed. "I've been here just over a week, but this is really the first time I've ventured out much beyond my own store and backyard. I've just been so busy settling in, you know?"

"Oh dear," she said, blushing a little. "You'll think I'm terribly rude. My name is Millie."

"It's not a good drinking night without one," she replies. "So how're things?"

"That's quite a goal, but the world needs more good correspondents," Jarod said approvingly, handing over her drink. "I'm sure you'll be wonderful."

"Oh? Where is your store?" Jarod asked, then smiled at her, "and no, not at all, Millie. I'm Jarod." He offered his hand, "Nice to meet you."

"All better. You?" she asks dryly.

"Peachy," Rory says. "I talked to him yesterday, if he didn't tell you."

"Thanks," Rory said, blushing a little under the bruises. "It's what I've wanted since I was about four, so let's hope it works out."
