Turtle & Canary; Wednesday [ 04/11 ]

The store stil had an abudant stock of Peeps that were quickly going stale, so Turtle, while trying to think of something else she could sell them as (paperweights in a few days, maybe; pile them on each other and call it modern art...), she was flinging them with little catapaults and shooters that she learned how to make in Science!. She wasn't giggling every single time one hit Apu, really. Nor was she giggling at Liz trying to chase them. Nope.

Today's Squishy Flavors: Schweinfliech, Lammfliech, Rot.

He's been working on an ultra-shooter in the backroom to enact sweet revenge.

Stanley walks in to do some grocery shopping.

Don't be surprised to get a Peep in the face, though.

Buffy had got sidetracked yesterday, so now she came running into the shop. "Oh my god, I need peeps and hot dogs and marshmallows and everything you have for grilling!" She caught her breath and smiled. "Hi Turtle!"

Turtle stopped mid-shot to blink at Buffy. She said the magic words. She needed Peeps. Oh, dear Lord, yes! "Hi, Buffy. Peeps are 50% off, Buffy, you should make sure to get plenty; what a steal!" And convenient way to finally clear their stock of them, maybe? "This all for the not-prom thing?"

Buffy nodded. "Yup! I've been working at the Magic Box so I can afford..." She dug into her pocket and handed Turtle a roll of money. "Well, stuff for that much!"

Bold girl, that Buffy, giving Turtle a wad of money and leaving her to decide what to do with it. Luckily, this was her fake big sister, and Turtle would feel pretty bad about cheating her fake big sister. "Well, let's see," Turtle did a quick count of the money, did a few figures on her handy-dandy legal pad, checked a few prices and...in a small matter of time, handed a list to Apu. "Go get all this for Buffy here." She turned back to her fake big sister, presenting her with the sheet full of figures, "The way I worked it and taking into consideration a larger amount of people showing than a smaller, this is what I've worked out for supplies. Should have everything covered, and look, you've even got plenty of money left over, too. The Peeps on sale helped, but I also threw in a discount for it being just about the coolest idea ever."

Buffy was very impressed. "Ooh. I have no idea what that means--" she blinked at the figures. "But it sounds good! Thank you." She laughed. "Well, I don't think it's fair that we don't get to party too. We totally deserve a party. Which is totally not a prom," she added. "In any way. Just so's we're clear."

"Totally not a prom," Turtle agreed with a firm nod and a look that told Buffy that if it was all a scam and it ended up being a prom, then, oh, boy, heads were gonna roll. And then she launched into her platform, "Because proms are a ridiculous institution of the social scholastic heirarchy that promotes the continuation of the unearned benefits of popularity contests and also propegates that idea that the more money you invest on useless crap, the better of a prom you will have, but, clearly, that won't be the case, because this not prom is only costing you ~~handwavey~~ amount, while a prom, which would be less fun, would cost you significantly more and be significantly less fulfilling as well, I imagine."

Turtle's eyes just dared Buffy to try and refute that. Just dared. She had all the figures right there.

Buffy would happily stand up against any evil vampire you could throw at her, but right now Turtle was way scarier.

"Uh," Buffy said, eyes wide. Pointing out that she was really looking forwards to her own prom, and that she might possibly already have her dress picked out, did not seem like a good idea. Instead she said, "Um, yes. Er, Not Prom will have a bonfire! Bonfires are pretty."

Not exactly the rallying cry of support she was hoping for. "Yes," Turtle nodded. "Yes, they are."

...But Buffy did seem to understand; she was having the Not Prom and everything. Since Buffy was a cheerleader, Turtle had been worried...

...Is it bad for a robot dog to eat a Peep? Well, Turtle would find out by the end of the day, probably.
