Fandom Post Office - Thursday 9-5

Katara was met at the door to the post office by an insistently meowing cat. She blinked and knelt down immediately to deliver the demanded scratches. When she looked back up at Gladys, she was convinced the golem had been snickering. If golems snicker.

"Mr. Lipwig. Found. Her. Food. Is. In. The. Back."

Katara scooped up the still meowing kitty and carried her into the back where she found Moist's note. "Not-Tiddles, hmm?" she asked the cat. "I guess that works."

She started unloading the mail, setting aside letters that needed to be delivered and sending back the random gelatinous cubes that had been misdelivered. In particular, she set aside a package for Mel that Katara would be sure to deliver later.

After all that Katara settled down to to play with Not-Tiddles. And love her and hug her ~~and call her George~~ and feed her bits of the sandwiches that were supposed to be Katara's lunch.

Chad had a new letter for Orihime to send out and a Best Roommate Ever to chat up a bit ~~in the tiny window of availabilty I have~~, and was immediately distracted.

"Cat," he said, being as observant as he was. But it wasn't just a cat, but a cute one, cuddly one and...with the way Katara was handling it...maybe...their...cat? Maybe? Hopefully?

"Isn't she cute?" Katara asked, taunting Not-Tiddles with a ball of packing tape tied on a string. "Her name is Not-Tiddles. I think Mr. Lipwig adopted her."

"Awwww," Chad said, trying not to be too disappointed that Katara had said Mr. Lipwig adopted her and not that she had adopted her, because she was cute. Chad leaned on the counter (carefully) and slid out a hand, waving his fingers at the cat to try to get its attention over toward him for a little bit.

Not-Tiddles immediately got up to investigate the new smells and rubbed her head against Chad's fingers.

Katara bounced at Chad. "Happy birthday! I've kept meaning to tell you and now I'm all late."

Awwww. Smiling softly as his insides bounced around in cuteness glee, Chad scratched his fingers behind Not-Tiddle's ears. He really liked this kitty, and was so taken by it that, if he were a little less Chad, Katara's bouncing might have made him bounce, too.

"Thanks, Katara. Late's better than never, and even never would have been okay."

She did, after all, let him have the room to himself (well, okay, not himself, but you get the point) Saturday.

She grinned. "I have a present for you, but ~~the link's on my powerless computer~~ it's in the room. I'll give it to you later." Katara watched Not-Tiddles and Chad with amusement. "I didn't know you liked cats. But she's really cute."

"I love cats," Chad said. And puppies, and bunny rabbits, and baby lions and tigers, and birdies, and ferrets, and tadpols, and seals, and fishies and fruitbats, and breakfast cereals...

He continued to pet Not-Tiddles with very muted glee. Kitty, kitty, kitty. He didn't even mind when she started gnawing at the ends of his fingers, because even that was just too, too cute and he had thick skin there anyway, from all his guitar playing.

"And penguins," Katara pointed out. "I wish you could meet Momo. Well, you can meet Sokka's Momo here, but the Momo at home is a flying lemur. And he's even more adorable than anything."

How could have have forgotten penguins! He blamed Not-Tiddles being so freakin' adorable.

"What's Momo here?" And, yeah, he'd have to agree that a flying lemur had to be pretty freakin' adorable, too, and Chad, at that moment, really, really wanted one...

Not-Tiddles flopped over on his side and looked at Chad expectantly for continued petting.

"He's a chinchilla, I think. And has the softest fur ever. I'll get Sokka to bring him down to the room sometime."

Chad loved how cats were cute even when flopping. Not-Tiddles was definitely not being deprived of any pets at the moment, that's for sure.

"Chinchillas rock," Chad nodded. "I'd like that. Sokka's your brother, right?"

Katara reached over to scratch behind Not-Tiddles ears.

"He's my older brother," she said. There was a roll of eyes. "Not that you'd know it."

Chad arched an eyebrow at the eye roll. "Why do you say that?"

She leaned on the counter. "Last week, the radio said that Professor Deadpool hurt Sokka. So I went to find Professor Deadpool and let him know that he can't do that to my brother. Somehow? Sokka found out about that and was upset. Because I'm only a girl and only his younger sister so I'm not supposed to involve myself in his 'fights.'"

Chad frowned. "Why would Senor Deadpool hurt him?"

"Something about a gameshow and a ponytail and..." she shrugged. "I don't know. Sokka gets upset about his hair."

Chad's hand that wasn't making sure Not-Tiddles was shown proper appriciation for her absolutely adorableness went through his own hair a little and he decided that he could definately understand where Sokka might be coming from on that one. But not the whole upset about Katara sticking up for him thing. He tried to imagine himself in the same situation, Orihime in Katara's, 'cause, really, she was the closest thing to a sister he'd ever had and decided that, yeah, he'd trained with that girl enough to know not to get in her way if she wanted to be involved in something.

"Well," he said, "I would have let you stick up fer me."

She beamed at him. "You wouldn't get mad if I threated to freeze someone to the wall?"

"No way," Chad said, smiling a bit for that beam on her face. "But I'd sure feel bad for that person. And that means you can't be mad at me either if I threatened to pound someone into the ground."

Katara wrinkled her nose and pretended to sigh. "Deal."

"What?" Chad asked in response to that sigh, which to him could totally be genuine. "I think it's fair. Us best roommates ever gotta look out for each other."

"It's fair," Katara agreed with a grin. "Just teasing you."
