Turtle & Canary; Wednesday [ 04/18 ]

Turtle came into the shop early with a great big box and had a special stand for the Young Entreprenuer's special project set up and was ready to go, admiring the club's handiwork.

Yeah, Annette stopped in after work real quick-like. After ~~handwavily~~ buying birthday gifts for Dr. Wilson, she sauntered over to the glitter display and peered down at it.

"Hmm, tell me about it Turtle." She cut her eyes over at Turtle. Annette loved the shiny and if it was for a good cause? Well, she'd buy lots.

"Gladly!" Turtle even bounced a little and went into an elaborate schpiel about the club and their product and how the earnings will go to many great, future products, Fandom made and Fandom produced, for the better of the society as a whole.

"I want some." Annette said simply, pretty clearly impressed by Turtle's speech.

"Aweseome!" Turtle bounced; Annette was a brat and a pervert, but Turtle knew she could also be a successful sale. In fact, perverts made some of the best customers, because they clearly had no scruples. Turtle just wouldn't ask what the heck Annette might do with the glitter and her dildos and EW. Nor will she touch Annette's hand when money was exchanged. "You should grab a few bottles. Can never have too much glitter. And look at all the colors! Couldn't possibly pick just one, though I do recommend the green."

If Annette even tempted to think that Turtle thought she was a pervert - oh, wait, the bra thing. Nevermind. But if Annette knew that Turtle was thinking about a dildo that Annette clearly didn't own - okay, she might have a cozy but that was soo not the same thing ohmigod and Turtle was just a major pervert for even thinking these sorts of things while selling glitter geeze!

"I want pink and blue and why green?"

"'Cause green's the best color, duh."

It was the colors of turtles and money! Well, American money, but that was the only money that counted, anyway.

"You just want my money, Turtle. Admit it. Fine, fine. Pink, blue, and green." Annette handed over the right amount and grinned. "Wonder what I'm going to do with it?"

"I do not just want your money, Annette," Turtle argued with innocence in her voice. "I just want to ensure that my friends have a proper supply of glitter, is all. Later today, when you think to yourself, 'Man, what I need now is some green glitter,' you'll thank me."

She nodded, "Right, Turtle. Tonight when I use it, I'll definitely remember that. Anyhooo, gotta run! Thanks a bunch!"

Turtle waved. "See ya, Annette! Thanks for supporting the club!"

There was a joke about a large bra in there somewhere, but Annette was probably out the door by then.

Just at the door, Annette turned and winked at Turtle, "You betcha!" Then out the door she went.

Angela stopped by the store to get some vital Oreos and a trashy magazine or two, and the display of glitter caught her eye. "The school made this stuff?"

Turtle nodded. "The Young Entreprenuers Club did, yes. So we're a representation of the school in that respect, sure." She eyed Angela and smiled. "Wanna buy some?" she chirped.

Angela hesitated, then grinned. "I was teasing my boyfriend about glitter and boykissy last week, on my birthday," she said. "Maybe I should have some to convvince him I''m serious."

She picked up tubes of silver and blue. "I'll take these."

"Good choice!" Turtle said, deciding not to bother making small talk about Angela's reasons for purchasing the glitter, although she knew the obsession with boykissy at this place was the reason she chose this project. Just because you recognize a market, doesn't mean you have to be comfortable about. She rang Angela up and gave her the ~~handwavey~~ price of her purchases with a cheerful, "Thanks for supporting the club!"

"Thanks for ... running the club," Angela said, leaving the store with her bag. "Bye!"

Jaye heads to T&C because she's got to stock up on things like bubble wrap (when kids spontaneously show up out of nowhere, a girl has to be prepared) and also like six pregnancy tests just because she has to be absolutely sure. Nevermind that she has no reason to worry. Still, with her luck she'd have to find the Pope's cell number or something.

Before she's even able to pick anything up, though, she's distracted by something shiny. "Oooh, glitter."

Turtle couldn't help smirk at that. Easy sell, easy sell! "Fandom's own, too. Made just this week by the Young Entreprenuers Club, so, in buying that," she pointed at the display, "instead of the stuff in the arts'n'crafts aisle, you'll be putting your money toward a great cause."

Read: her! Mwa ha ha.

"You can make glitter?" Jaye says. "It's not like made out of recycled materials or compost or anything, right?"

"Nope," Turtle assured her. "It's actually not that difficult to make at all, and they have, like, companies that supply materials for it." She was tempted to tell Jaye that they just send you shiny plastic stuff and you cut it up, but she had a feeling then Jaye would get shiny plastic stuff and then not buy Gremlin Glitter, and that would be bad.

Turtle's a smart girl, though Jaye probably couldn't manage the drive to cut up plastic shiny stuff into tiny pieces. "I'll take one."

Notice how she doesn't ask about, you know, price, or anything like that.

"Just one?" Turtle asked. "With all those colors, you're going to restrict yourself to just one?"

"It's homemade glitter. I should really try the product before buying some more," she says. "What if it's substandard?"

"Jaye. Come on. Look'it me. I'm the co-owner of the second most successful business in town. Do I look like the type of person who would attach my name to a substandard product?"

True. "Is there a discount?"

Ooh, nicely done. "The price is already cheaper than the market value of glitter, for a bottle that contains at least ten percent more than the average glitter product."

"Eh. Sorry. Gonna have to stick to the one then," she says, mostly wondering if she can actually swing this.

Turtle sucked in a deep breath. "Okay. Fine. Buy two, get the third half off..."

"Deal. I'll take three then," Jaye says. Victory!

Turtle was doing her own victory dance in her head, because she was still getting half price rather than free. Sweeeeet.

"Thanks for supporting the club!"

Especially while Turtle's in class and/or clubs.

Apu is very glad that there are no little children around today, because he didn't want to tell them not to eat the glitter.

Turtle had a theory that some of the best ways to advertise your product is to have people seeing you use it yourself. Which explains why everything in the store is so sparkly today.

Where's your head at, ba dum.
