The Beach, Sunday Morning

Tori was up early and decided since it was such a gorgeous day, it was perfect for a run. Armed with her mp3 player, Tori set out at a leisurely pace, making her way down to the beach.

She loved running by the water, it was more comfortable on her legs and feet. And plus? She was near her element. It was wonderful.

Billy had had a similar idea. More of a practicing basic and fancy martial arts in a more dramatic setting, but similar.

He began to stretch.

Tori spotted Billy and smiled at him, waving slightly as she continuing running.

Billy waved back and couldn't resist a bit of showing off with the jumping and the flipping.

Tori grinned, she was impressed. "Very nice." She stopped to watch, shutting off her mp3 player.

"Thank you." he smiled. "I had good teachers. I was afraid I'd be a little rusty since I haven't practiced these moves in, at least a month."

"You're welcome." Tori smiled brightly. "You don't look rusty to me." She replied truthfully.

"That's good to hear." he nodded. "When I was learning all this, they talked about discipline, and self defense and stuff like that. They forgot to mention how much fun it is."

Tori grinned and nodded. "Yeah, same here. They tend to leave that part out." She laughed, thinking of her training and the fact that Sensei Watanabe never spoke of fun. At least, not in the beginning.

"I mean, yeah discipline's important, but running, jumping climbing trees and doing flips and stuff is great! To be honest I never quite mastered the sneaky part of being a ninja."

"It really is pretty cool." Tori chuckled. "Oh, I think I've got the stealth and sneak factor down."

"Good for you." Billy smirked. "Me, I was always able to get into places well enough. Just kept getting caught while I was in there."

"Thanks." Tori grinned. "That's good except for the getting caught part." She smirked.

"It wasn't usually a good thing no. I'd be practicing that, except sneaking around here I think would just get me into trouble. The bad kinda trouble."

"Didn't seem like that." Tori winked, amused. "Oh yeah, around here? That definitely spells trouble and I don't think we want that. That would just be horrible." She agreed.

"Plus the squirrels would no doubt put just the wrong spin on it. I have no segue for this, but what kinda weapons have you been trained with?"

"Oh, they'd mess with it, definitely." Tori agreed, with a nod. Sometimes she just couldn't believe what the squirrels reported. "Well, I really dislike using weapons but I do know how to handle a sword and a staff."

"I was trained with swords too. Not so much with the staff. Swords were the specialty of most of my senseis. That and 'The Ear That Sees'. Which is basically a pretentious ninja name for blindfighting."

"I tend to prefer fighting weaponless, but every once in a while the situation calls for one." Tori smiled softly. "'The Ear That Sees', nice."

"Yeah that one I'm pretty good at. Helps that one of my sensei's was blind. He was known as the Blind Master. Imagine that."

"That's sounds pretty cool, actually." Tori admitted with a smile. "Oh, that does help. Blind Master, very original." She joked, meaning no disrespect toward Billy's sensei.

"The Arashikage Ninja Clan had many creative names for things and people."

"Indeed they do." Tori grinned, amused.

"Any fancy names from your neck of the woods?"

Tori thought about it and shook her head. "Not really no. Sensei Watanabe is the head of the Wind Ninja Academy where I teach and then there's Sensei Omino who is the head of the Thunder Ninja Academy." She explained. "Sadly, no fancy names."

"Wind Ninja Academy and Thunder Ninja Academy sound pretty fancy to me."

"I guess they are." Tori shrugged, smiling. "I never really thought about that way."

"I grew up around a military where people dressed like superheroes. So I kinda got used to flamboyant names I guess."

"Oh wow." Tori smiled brightly. "That must have been quite the experience for you." She wonderd what it would be like to have lived like that.

"Yeah, I was an army brat for several years, then my foster parents were mostly ninjas or also military."

Tori nodded. "That's pretty cool." She'd never had parents like that. Her parents were pretty normal in comparison.

"For the most part yeah. Some of them kept fairly bad company, but gave me an excuse for any bad behavior I exhibit."
