Xander might be on the phone, should people walk in; after all, it's proving to be a pretty long and oddly overcomplicated conversation:

"How should I know what Parker thinks she knows that you don't?"

"Why would you think I'm being taunty? Have you ever known me to be taunty?"

"Okay, aside from almost always, have you ever known me to be taunty?"

"Well, isn't it possible that I'm not so much withholding information as waiting for you to narrow down what the heck it is you want an update on?"

"Could we at least narrow the scope from 'everything' to some range where I don't have to take those kind of breaks that happen offscreen in family-friendly tv shows?"

"What do you mean I'm answering everything you say with a question?"

Or he might have hung up and just be wandering around behind the counter wearing an expression of Willow-inspired WTF.

"Xander? Are you here?" Bridge calls out, upon entering the office.

"Don't I look like I'm here?" Xander pats himself down, just in case. You never know.

"Wouldn't it hurt to check if I had, like, a blowtorch in my hand?"

"Because checking yourself isn't nearly as fun as having someone do it for you?" Bridge counters. It's possible he turns a little red after realising how that could possibly be taken.

"Well, I seem to be here at the moment, but maybe you could check me again later just to be sure?"

Elliot came down to the office after her clinic shift to see about ending her lease. "Hi Xander, are you busy or anything?"

Xander shook his head. "Hey, you need something, Elliot?"

"Would it be a huge expensive problem if I told you I was going to move out the week after graduation?" Elliot asked. "And is there anything I can do to make it not be one?"

"How does not paying any rent after you move out sound? You think that's too steep?"

"Wasn't that what I was hoping you would say?" Elliot said with a relieved smile. "Can I just drop off my key when I leave?"

"You know where to find me if there's nobody behind the desk, right?" Xander nodded towards Apartment Negative Pie.

Then: "Well. Aren't you a lot nicer to work with than some of my old landlords have been?"

"Am I falling down on my duties as a slumlord?"

"Are you going to start scheduling construction for 6 a.m. and breaking into our apartments to snoop to make up for it?"
