Groovy Tunes, Saturday

Charlie took her notebook in with her to work, and in between playing with the kitties, listening to Back in Black and Josie and the Pussycats back-to-back, she worked on the story she'd written while talking to Karal.

Naminé entered the store, fascinated by the swirling colors and logos. She smiled and waved to Charlie. "This looks like a rather pretty place to work. Are you enjoying it?"

"Uh-hunh! There's music, and the kitties, and so far everyone's been really cool." Charlie smiled at Naminé and came out from behind the counter. "Are you looking for any music today too?"

Naminé laughed. "I hadn't thought that far ahead, I was simply stopping by to say hello. I haven't much money, but it never hurt to browse, I suppose. Is there anything you would recommend?"

Charlie looked thoughtful. "Well, I was enjoying Blue Oyster Cult-- Dean recommended them to me, so I was listening to some of their songs. It's dark, but kind of insidious. Gets in your head and stays there." She smiled. "Feel free to just play with the kittens, though, if you want to."

"Blue Oyster Cult," Naminé repeated the name softly. "Intriguing. I shall have to investigate further. And I shall have to play with the kittens, of course. Are they yours?"

Charlie grinned, thinking that Dean would be gleeful about that, and said, "No, they're the owner's, Melody Valentine. Or she belongs to them. Hard to tell with cats. Aren't they cute? She said she was thinking of naming them Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail."

"Cats do have that sophisticated air that seems to contradict ownership," Naminé smiled. "And the owner has a lovely name. Have you met her yet?"

"The day she hired me." Charlie giggled a little. "She was wearing cat ears and a tail. She's really nice, just a little different. She even let me wear the ears. She did all the redecorating in here, and re-named it after the last owners left-- it used to be Empire Records."

"Cat ears and a tail? She sounds charming." Naminé laughed. "I suppose the name reflects her persona much better than the last. What did the store look like before, I wonder?"

"I kind of wonder too. Darker, at least. But still kind of cool, maybe? I don't think Empire is a chain, so not generic, at least." She cocked her head. "Are you still up for shopping tomorrow? And do you want to stay on the island, or go into D.C.?"

"I suppose we can't know for sure, short of asking those who were around earlier." She lifted a shoulder. "I haven't much money, but I'd like to shop at any rate. I've never heard of D.C. Is it nearby?"

(mun's gonna have limited availability tomorrow *facepalm*: SP okay for the trip?)

"Right over the Causeway," Charlie said. "We can take the bus and the Metro, and just walk around." She smiled. "I don't have much money yet either, since I haven't gotten paid yet. But we can get ideas."

"I don't believe I've ever been on either, but I'm familiar with buses at least. It sounds lovely, a day of exploring. Window-shopping." She beamed. "What time would you like to go?"

"I'm working late tonight, and I thought I'd sleep in, if that's okay-- how about right after lunch?" Charlie suggested. "And we can see some of the sights, too. I've never been to D.C. either, it should be fun." She grinned, getting a little excited about it. "And maybe the Smithsonian, or the Lincoln Memorial or something."

"Sleeping in is always okay with me." Naminé grinned back. "You'll have to tell me what the sights are, I'm not exactly a local. But I'm interested in all sorts of things. Just to see and do, I suppose."

"D.C. is the capital of the country, so it has all sorts of exhibits and cool things," Charlie explained. "And most of them are free!" She bounced on her toes. "So yay, tomorrow after we eat, and get our energy up for exploring."

"Free is definitely good, considering our limited funds. Do you mean art exhibits? I can't wait to see." Naminé smiled. "I shall meet you after lunch, then, and we'll go adventuring."

After rollerblading in the park for a bit and talking with Cassie, Adam had made his way into town and decided to stop by the music store.

He smiled upon entering and spotting a familiar face. "Hey Charlie."

"Hey, Adam!" Charlie looked up from her notebook and closed it quickly, smiling at him. "I haven't seen you for a while, how are things going?"

"Things are going pretty well, thanks." Adam grinned. "How about you?"

"Got a job," Charlie said, smiling as she gestured around the store. "And my workshops are cool. I got to blow up the ruins of the school again on Tuesday with a molotov cocktail. Can't say that wasn't fun."

"Now I'm really regretting not signing up for that workshop." Adam chuckled. "It sounds like it was a lot of fun."

[Running away for a BBQ, be back in a couple of hours.]

"Maybe next session? Aly's cool, I think you'd like her." Charlie grinned, and came out from behind the counter. "So what's your favorite workshop? And can I find you any of our very excellent music?"

[np! going to movies at 9pmEST]

"Hopefully next session." Adam nodded, with a smile. "I bet I would. Well, I think right now it's a tie between History in Action and the History of Witchcraft." He admitted. "They're both really cool and I've learned some pretty interesting things so far. I wasn't looking for anything in particular, but is there something you'd recommend?"

[Yay movies! *wants to see Pirates 3 so bad!]

"Sure, umm...." Dean would laugh, but Charlie decided to recommend it anyway. "Blue Oyster Cult? I just started listening to them." She walked over and pulled out the CD. "Don't Fear the Reaper is great." She grinned. "What's your usual taste in music like?"

"I've never heard of them, but I'll give it a shot." Adam smiled. "Honestly? I like a bit of everything. Not really a one genre kind of guy." He admitted with a sheepish grin.

"Me neither," Charlie admitted. "But that's part of why it's cool to work here, I can play anything I want, try out a few things." She grabbed another CD, this one labelled Khaled and handed it over too. "Bouncy kind of tribal-Arabic stuff. I like it for dancing to." She rose up on her toes, smiling at Adam hopefully. "You could be my first real sale!"

"Oh, it sounds like loads of fun." Adam grinned. It really did sound like a cool job.

"For dancing, huh?" He smirked, looking over the CD. "Well, I don't see how I could say no to that." He chuckled, deciding to buy the CD. "I guess I'll just have to buy it now." Adam winked.

[OOC: Bedtime for me! Slowplay and pick up in the AM?]

"Cooooool," Charlie said, blushing a little. "That would be great." She got behind the counter and rang up the sale, then bagged the two CD's. "So, doing anything else today?" she asked, hoping he'd stick around a little longer.

[np! that's fine!]

"Anytime." Adam smiled, glad to be helping her out. He shook his head. "I didn't have anything planned, nope."

"Then I guess have a great day," Charlie said, smiling at him. "And pet the kittens while you're here."

"Thanks, you too Charlie." Adam grinned. "I'll be sure to do that." He paused for a moment. "Are you doing anything tomorrow or Monday? Maybe we could hang out or something." Yeah, Adam was kind of surprised at himself.

"Tomorrow I'm shopping, but Monday would be good?" Charlie grinned, leaning on the counter. "We could hang out after my Mercenary class."

"Monday it is." Adam nodded, smiling. "Sounds great to me."

Yitzhak emerged from the apartment upstairs (after straightening out, so to speak yet another crisis in his wig closet) and thought he'd stop into the store on his way down.

Apparently yesterday's diner theme had put him in the mood for J-pop, which by any standard of thinking was, quite frankly, terrifying.

He glanced at the unfamiliar girl -- nice hair, he thought, and he might have to find a wig like that -- and nodded briefly.

Charlie waved back, smiling. "Hi. I'm Charlie. Miss Valentine hired me to work Saturdays. I didn't know anyone lived upstairs."

Yitzhak jerked his chin downward once in acknowledgment. Hey, he was feeling unusually cordial today.

A tiny bit intimidated, Charlie nodded back at him. Silence. Further silence. Then: "Just give a wave if you need something?"

Yitzhak wiggled his fingers at her, possibly a gesture of gratitude, and wandered off into the CD racks for a while, humming to himself. The humming was bizarrely upbeat for someone wearing such a surly expression.

Charlie grinned, and went back to writing her story.

A silent wanderer helped Michael fish Bobbi out of the water; they never got his name, just a surfer's wave as he walked back into the surf, and dove into the water....

They love string of any kind. And Groovy Tunes has a wide selection of music.

Who can resist the kitties? Certainly not Naminé, who was seated on the ground next to one, playing keep-away with a crumpled up piece of paper.

Adam thought the kittens were all kinds of adorable, as he crouched down to pet them. It was silly to try and resist, he realized as they batted at his hand.
