Movies in the Park, Wednesday (06/06)

Just before dusk, the temporary movie screen is set up. There's a large open area in front of it, where movie-goers can spread out blankets or set up lawn chairs. Some people are already gathered, picnicking while the sun sets.

[OOC: The movie begins at dusk, and the screen will be removed afterwards. OCD threads ~~will be~~ have been set up for your movie-going use. Anyone who needs the park for other purposes will find that the outdoor cinema takes up only a portion of the park, with plenty of space available for non-movie needs.]

Talk with your friends, meet new people, hang out with your date, play with your dog. The film begins at dusk.

After getting off work at the clinic, Wilson had sent Aziraphale out on an errand to get him out from under foot and had taken himself off home to get changed and also to pull together his surprise. Taking time to shower and dressing in comfortable light weight pants and a polo shirt, Wilson headed down into the kitchen to pack up the food he'd made the night before.

Lugging the picnic basket out to the park, he shook out the tartan blanket and set the basket down in the middle. Another quick dart home had a few large pillows joining the blanket and then Wilson began to unpack the treats he'd made the night before.

The meal had a theme and that theme started with crabmeat deviled eggs (http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_16140,00.html?rsrc=search) and baked angel hair with eggplant (http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_31018,00.html?rsrc=search). Wilson had gone off recipe a little with the last one so that the pasta and eggplant were wrapped in little pockets of the puff pastry, making it into a bit of an appetizer instead of an entree. Also in the line of fingerfood, he'd prepared oysters in a very specific manner. For the main meal Wilson had Deviled Frittata and Heavenly Angel Hair Pasta (http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_35454,00.html?rsrc=search) again the name fitting with an impromptu theme that he'd just stuck with as he cooked. There were two desserts, Devil's Food Cheesecake (http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_36859,00.html?rsrc=search) and Drunken Angel Food Cake with Tequila and Lime (http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_19261,00.html?rsrc=search).

To go with the meal, he'd pulled down two bottles of wine. A chardonnay from the The Devil's Lair winery (http://www.devils-lair.com/) and a merlot from Angel's Gate winery (http://www.angelsgatewinery.com/angelsgate.htm) the white went into a bucket of ice to chill the red sat in the picnic basket waiting it's turn.

It was a bit of a lark, perhaps foolish since Wilson hadn't exactly told either lover of his plans but sometimes you just want to do something fun for the people -or angel types- that you care for and so .. picnic with an angel/devil theme.

Aziraphale had grown rather fond of "date night", and he was pleased as could be when he returned from his errand and found Wilson already at the park, with a bountiful picnic laid out.

Grinning happily, he stretched out on one side of the blanket, and laughed as he dug into the food and discovered the theme.

"You do have the best ideas, love."

"I had a wild hair last night when I got home," Wilson admitted with a chuckle, reaching to pour them both some wine and then laying back on one of the larger cushions. It was a nice day and the breeze was making him feel a bit dozy. Plus he enjoyed simply watching Aziraphale dig into the food.

"It's the perfect weather for a picnic," Aziraphale agreed, popping a deviled egg into his mouth. He propped himself up on one elbow and stretched his legs out on the blanket, hooking one ankle over the other.

"Do you know what film they're showing tonight?"

"Do we ever really end up caring?" Wilson returned pointedly.

"It might be something we don't want to miss," the angel pointed out, although he chuckled at Wilson's comment.

No, they very rarely ended up seeing more than the first half hour or so.

Eve had nothing to do. She wasn't bored, she just had nothing to do. So she figured hey, why not hit movie night in the park? So she headed for town, swung by a convenience store for snacks because what movie night was complete without snacks, and then headed for the pack.

She meandered around, looking for anybody she even halfway new. Not that she was opposed to talking to new people. She just wondered if she'd see anybody she knew.

Millie found herself a comfortable spot under a tree and settled in with Proudfoot to watch the movie. She watched some of the couples wistfully, wondering what it would be like if she had a someone special of her own.

But enough of that, she was here to watch the movie!

This week's film is Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0052357/), with James Stewart and Kim Novak.

They're taking down the screen until next week, but you can still talk about what you just saw, continue snuggling with your date, set up an impromptu game of after-dark frisbee, etc.
