Wednesdays really were a good day for Kabuto. Ninja-ing class, and then no classes until Monday. That, and he actually liked working at the bar. He had to enjoy it, to accept the second shift that Lucifer had offered.

But regardless, there he was, manning the bar and playing with chakra. And still wearing his ninja gear from class, because it was comfortable and he didn't feel like changing out of it.

The Devil's Nest was open, with a bored ninja behind the bar.

Lucifer was in his regular spot after a day spent downstairs in the wine cellar. If he had been someone else, he may have looked strained, but as it was it was just a mellowness that came from the work he was doing.

Kabuto left the bar briefly to check on Lucifer. Because it was polite. No ulterior motives at all. Really.

"Can I get you anything?"

Of course it was, just like Lucifer was the forgiving type.

"Vodka martini, dirty."

Using chakra to augment his speed, Kabuto fixed Lucifer's drink and presented it to him with a minimum of fanfare. "Your drink, sir." He wasn't being impertinent at all.

Lucifer took the drink, swirling it in the glass for a moment, looking thoughtful.

"Is there a reason for this change in clothing?" He asked, finally taking a sip.

"Class," Kabuto replied honestly. "Yondaime-sensei asked me to wear it, since the class today was on typical ninja gear. It's the normal uniform for a medical ninja; which is what I am."

He looked the ninja over. "I can't say it suits you."

"No?" Kabuto asked, almost surprised. "I actually kind of like it. It's comfortable."

"It seems a bit too... uniform for you."

"Really?" He actually found that a very pleasing compliment. "Thank you."

Lucifer just sipped his drink, ignoring the thanks. It was just an observation.

Still, it was a nice observation. Kabuto headed back to the bar, smiling to himself.

I put it in for class as well, but just to be sure; no, Kabuto in the more traditional medical ninja outfit is not canon. But it makes good sense, and every time I've seen him in doujinshi where he's not in his usual outfit, he's in that or an ANBU uniform. And since he's not actually ANBU, the medical ninja uniform makes more sense.

And it has one bare arm, and one ridiculously long sleeve. How weirdly cool is that?
