Turtle & Canary; Thursday [ 06/07 ]

Letting out a long yawn, Turtle leaned forward on the counter and looked over the paper. Doing radio last night left her a little tired, but, until they got some new kids in, she'd have to be at the store. Especially in case anyone she said could get discounts came in, because otherwise Apu would probably mess it up and everyone would get away with it. But at least the stocks were dropping as much as they did yesterday and the day before, and she was idly working on figuring out where to invest the rest of Sokka's money. Now would probably be a good time to do it.

She didn't forget to put out the glittery "Help Wanted" sign today, either.

Today's Squishy Flavors: Banana Creme, Coconut Creme, Red.

Especially when Turtle's in workshops or perhaps napping or escaping the store for a bit.

Peter loaded up on some water pistols and paid Apu for them.

Clearly he was feeling suicidal today.

If you time it right, you might even catch her looking at a fashion magazine, catching up on how to style the new hair.

She will call you a liar and probably kick you, though, if you mention it.

Marco came in, mostly to bother Turtle. "Hey, nice hair."

"Hey, nice...vending."

Yeah. She had nothing.

"What's up, Marco?"

"Thanks, I tried!" Marco beamed and tried to sit on the counter. It probably would have helped if he wasn't five foot four. "Um, totally meant to do that, yeah." He brushed himself off after the fall. "So why the new style?"

Turtle snorted at the attempt. Saved her the trouble of pushing him off if he had made it. "Can't a girl just invest in a change because she wants to?" she asked. "In fact, aren't girls supposed to always be changing their minds and stuff? I just changed my hair, which is on my head, which contains my mind. Kinda round-about, I know, but...it works."

Marco blinked. "So your hair signifies how much your brains are working?"

"Nooooo, that's not at all what I'm saying," Turtle, who had no idea what the heck she was saying, said. "Either way, it's not important. I needed a change, so I got a change. So far, either everyone's like it, or everyone is dirty, dirty liars."

"It's the worst haircut I've ever seen." Marco said with a straight face.

Instant flail, until the hands settled very decidedly against her neck, holding the hair down and Turtle looked at Marco with a red, distressed face. "Shut up, it is not!" she shouted. "It's cute! Everyone said so! You're the only one who hasn't, and...and...and if your qualifications for good haircuts include that mop on your head, then, yeah, I'm glad you think this is the worst you've ever seen, because yuck! Ew! Get a brush! Ohmigawd."

Marco cracked up laughing. "Hey, hey! Can't you tell when someone is pulling your leg? Or, well, hair as this case may be. And what's wrong with the mop on my head?"

"Ummm..." Turtle's face was looking a little pink. Her hands slowly slid away from her neck until they were hanging at her side. "Uh, nothing. Geez, I so knew you were just joking. Can't you tell when someone's pulling your leg back? Geez, Marco."

Her lower lip might have been quivering just a little, though. True, she hated when people pulled her braid, but the fact that no one would ever pull her braid again because there was no braid made the pulling the hair thing hit a little close to home.

"Aw, I'm sorry." Marco leaned over to give Turtle a hug and was mentally trying to figure out how many more mood swings there'd be before the end of the day.

Okay, yeah, totally not expecting that. Turtle blinked in surprise at the hug, stiffening for a second in surprise before relaxing a little and appriciating it. A bit. For a second, before she squirmed away a bit, chuckling nervously. "Oh, hey, don't worry about it." She waved a hand dismissively and pretended like it was really important to reorganize the packs of gum on the counter.

Marco wasn't laughing, really. "So how much for a ... very organized pack of gum?"

"Seventy-five cents," Turtle informed him. Look; a gum tower. Whee. "I'm not charging extra for the organization."

Marco handed her a dollar. "No discounts for being cute?"

"Well, but then you'd have to be cute," Turtle said, with a smirk. But he did hug her, which was kind of cute, so she considered it for a moment. Just a moment, though.

Marco pouted and made very, very big puppy eyes at her.

"Price quotas, Marco!" Turtle countered, slightly frantic in the presence of puppy eyes. "I have to meet them!"

Marco made is lower lip quiver.

"It's a seventy-five cent pack of gum! Seventy five! Not even a whole dollar!"

Marco dropped the puppy look and grinned at Turtle. "You're so easy." He said fondly.

"What do you mean, easy? You totally didn't get the discount; I win."

"But I had fun, so let's call it a win-win and both go home happy!" Marco beamed.

"You're still going to buy the gum, though, right?" Because Turtle? Not happy without a sale.

"I gave you a dollar, didn't I?"

"Oh! Right!" Turtle shook her head a little. "Sorry." She quickly went to get a quarter from the register.

The SquishyBot seems a little sad today. Mostly because it exists in a relatively useless thread.

Job interview, yay!

*channels her inner Turtle* Ommmmmm.
