Our Lady of Fandom, Wednesday all day

Gabriel was impressed by the fridge. It would certainly come in handy. Together with the bed the church felt a lot more comfortable.

[The church is open]

Karal was carrying a largeish box, peering over the top of it as he made his way into the church. Altra wasn't with him, having muttered distinctly uncomplimentary things in Karsite at the suggestion he come to see Gabriel. "Gabriel? Are you here?"

"Thank you and good morning," he said, happy to see Gabriel. "How are you today? And forgive me, but this is rather heavy." He set it down on a pew.

Karal wouldn't have expected any help, would have been horrified if he had. "I have brought you a kettle," he pulled it out and set it on the pew, "and coffee and tea, sugar and honey, and some, umm, they are a soup that comes in a small package, which you simply mix with boiling water." He looked over at Gabriel hopefully. "And some mugs and spoons and other things you might need."

Karal nodded enthusiastically. "It is! It is amazing. It boils the water without a fire. You simply fill it with water, push the plug into the wall socket, and turn this switch, and it will whistle when the water is ready."

"Oh! You have a fridge? That means you can have milk as well. I will bring you some next time," he decided. "Is there somewhere you would like me to put these things?"

Karal walked around the edge of the church, looking for a plug, and found one in the corner. "There is one here!" he called, hurrying over to grab the kettle. "Is there somewhere to fill it?"

He happily filled the kettle, then plugged it in to boil. "And now we simply must wait," he said, moving to sit near Gabriel. "Have you eaten today?"

Karal blinked at the jar, then looked at Gabriel worriedly. "That is not proper food. When was the last time you had a meal?" This was not good, he was going to get sick if he continued to eat like this.

"That--" Karal sighed in exasperation. "You must care for yourself better. I will go and get you something. When the kettle whistles, press the switch I showed you and it will stop."

He had a brief moment of what he'd describe as deja vu, if he'd ever heard the term, flashing back to caring for Ulrich, but he shook it off. "I will come back soon," he said quietly and headed out of the church.

Karal came back some minutes later, carrying a bag of sandwiches, a bottle of juice, and some fruit. Boring, but he thought that they would keep well in the fridge. "Gabriel?" he called as he came back in. "Here, this is better that doughnuts."

He couldn't help ducking his head, pleased he'd found something Gabriel liked. "And you should be able to keep them in the fridge and eat them for a few days," he added, setting down the juice and fruit. "Not for too long, or even with the fridge, they could go bad and make you sick."

"I'm glad you like it." He fidgeted a little, resting his hands on the back of one of the pews. "I should leave you to enjoy your meal in peace," he said, though he didn't really want to leave. "And I have a class soon. Is there anything else you need?"

"All right." With a quick smile, Karal turned to go. "Please take care of yourself, Gabriel."

If he was a little disappointed to be dismissed so easily, he didn't show it, just waved a farewell and said, "Goodbye," as he left.
