Turtle & Canary; Wednesday [ 07/11 ]

As soon as he arrived at work, Bart set about to make Bob well... Bob. Who knew peeling off a name tag would take so long?

Though, ever mindful that Bob was a girl, Bart made sure that the new name tag had pink and glitter on it. Girls liked that, right? Hopefully Bob did.

Today's Squishy Flavors: Coffee, Java, Red

Turtle & Canary is open and properly named!

Turtle, being a good employee, stopped in again to see how Bart was getting on.

"Hey, Bart, how's it--Please don't tell me that's a Bob nametag on my Alice!"

"It's all pink and glittery!" Turtle declared, as if that offense was even greater than her having a boy's name. After all, Charlie had a boy's name, so it wasn't too bad, but Charlie was also cooler than Bob.

"Not all girls!" Turtle told him, shocked that he would suggest such a thing. "Certainly not robotic girls with lasers." Didn't Bart know anything?

"Well, for starters," Turtle said wryly, giving Bart a look, one eyebrow arched, "how about a nametag with her actual name on it?"

"I don't know where you learned how to read, Bart, but that sure doesn't look like Alice to me."

"It's not Bob, Bart," Turtle said, conclusively, in a firm voice with a look just as determined, and, quickly, hoping to not let him get another word in edgewise about the matter, she changed the subject, "Everything going okay today? Did we get that shipment of Westing Paper products and the new shipment of milk in like we were supposed to yet?"

Blink. "Beards?"

And, although she doubted this was what Bart was talking about, she saw an opprotunity and grabbed it. "You know who does look good in beards? People named Bob. Our ShishyBot, being a girl, would not look good in a beard, and therefor, she can't be named Bob, got it?"

"Sometimes!" Turtle said, her own eyes a little wide, too. "Like the bearded ladies at the carnival. Or Ms. Pulaski. She didn't have a beard, but she did have a mustache, and mom would pinch me in the leg or the arm if she caught me staring at it." Turtle facepalmed a little in embarrassment for her rudeness, but, really, it took the will of a warrior to not stare at Ms. Pulaski's mustache.

"Ugh," Turtle facepalmed. For such a cool kid, Bart could sure be pretty slow sometimes. "That's the whole point. She wouldn't put a moustache anywhere, because she's not a Bob. She's an Alice. Alice's don't have moustaches."

Turtle took his silence as a victory. "Apu hasn't been giving you any trouble or anything? Lording over you like he knows everything just because he owned a QuikiMark for, like, ever?"

"QuickiMart. Kind of like the Kwik-Stop here in town."
