Turtle & Canary; Thursday [ 07/12 ]

"The best things in life are free," Turtle, singing along with the random music as she stocked, also moved her hips a little, "but you can give them to the birds and bees; I want money."

"That's...what I want; that's what I want."

She went and placed the new, non-glittery Alice nametag on SquishyBot. "Your love gives me such a thrill..." And then the very glittery "Help Wanted" sign on the door. "But your love won't pay my bills, I want money!"

And then took her place behind the counter and open up her Wall Street Journal. "That's...what I want!"

And so totally have. Mwa ha ha.

Today's Squishy flavors: Bass Clef, Treble Clef, Red.

Jeff walked into the store, saw Turtle, and sighed. "You're not a supermodel," he said. He looked so disappointed.

Turtle snorted, giving the guy a weird look over WSJ, as the dulcet tones of Foghat sang about Easy Money in the background. "Um, congratulations. But I'm afraid we don't have any Obvious Awards on stock today. Sorry."

Turtle looked at this guy carefully. She didn't recognize him; must be a new kid. For some reason expect her to be a super...mod...

Turtle let out a burst of laugher; she had to bury her red face in her newspaper for a moment. "Oh, geez," she moaned between giggles and then lifted her head again, grinning and boggling slightly at the guy. "Lemme guess. You're Jeff?"

Mary finally managed to ignore her personal soundtrack and pull herself together. After all, she had cookies to deliver.

Turtle shrugged. "Business as usual. A little slow. But, if anyone asks, why, yes, I did used to be a supermodel. But I decided to give it up today. Just to keep you up to speed with this sort of thing." She nodded, importantly, and flipped the page of her WSJ.

Charlie took a break from Groovy Tunes and headed over to Turtle & Canary, and on the way, kept turning around and around to try and find the invisible band following her. SO weird.

"I wanted to thank you for not telling everyone exactly what kind of practice Isabel and I were having, out on the beach yesterday." Charlie smiled a little shyly. "And I'm practicing with Johnny tomorrow, and I wondered if you'd want to be there? Sometimes it's kind of fun."

"I think it's perfect," Turtle mused. "Get you a nice pay of bellbottoms, with flames on the pantlegs...."

Ah-ah-ah-ah, Stayin' alive! Stayin' alive!

Turtle giggled again. "I'd love to stop by tomorrow, yeah. Will I get to make fun of Johnny? I promise, no kicking. And no problem about the sandcastle, either." Turtle tried to wink, but she couldn't wink, so it was just an extra attentative blink.
