Around Fandom - Friday Night

The sun was down when large shapes started to slowly appear around Fandom. At first, they were barely shadows, nothing more than what you'd think was something you caught out of the corner of your eye. Then they became more and more real, more solid, more aware of their new surroundings.

A plesiosaurus raised its head above the surface of the park pond. High above the island, a pteranodon soared through the air. Rustling in the trees near the school-side edge of the Preserve, a woolly mammoth found some leaves to eat. Finally, Efferton Manor found itself with a new resident on the front lawn, a stegosaurus who was happy to mind its own business.

Dinosaurs hadn't roamed most worlds for millions of years until now.

Now they were back.

Josh was walking across the park to get to Aly's apartment.

And paused.

And blinked.

"Huh."

The Plesiosaurus dipped its head in the pond and came back up with a fish sticking half way out of its mouth.

Annette was walking through the park to get back to the dorms. She had just bought some rope to tie up Dick with.

She was in a good mood and humming to herself.

The Plesiosaurus thrashed about in the pond, trying to find a spot deep enough to submerged.

Steve was out for an evening walk when he saw the plesiosaurus in the pond.

"But this isn't Antarctica," he muttered.

The plesiosaurus was having fun slapping its two front fins on the water and making large thunking noises. Water was flying every which way.

Deadpool was going for a walk. At night. Alone. Don't worry, he had one of those whistles.

Then he noticed the dinosaur.

"...If I got transported to the Savage Land, I better be getting a guest appearance spot."

The plesiosaurus seemed to be contently bobbing in the water and making a singsong gurgling sound.

Johnny'd heard stories about all the weirdness, and he'd seen Izzy use levitation or something like that, but this was the first time he'd ever seen anything this big this close up.

As such, Blaze stared at the dinosaurs in the park for a good four minutes without speaking, before coming to the crushing realization that these were, in fact, honest to goodness dinosaurs wandering around in front of him.

"Oh-kay." Maybe this would all go down easier if he just smiled and nodded.

The plesiosaurus seemed to be occupying itself by scooping up giant mouthfuls of water and then shaking its head violently to spray it back out.

Mary was pissed after the way her evening ended (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/1871019.html?thread=85965227#t85965227). She opted to walk out in the park instead of heading back to the hotel because she needed to cool off. She was so angry that she almost missed seeing something odd.

Isabel had taken her bottle of bubbles up to the roof and was entertaining herself blowing them and watching them drift away.

It was a nice enough day that Willow went for a walk. She kept her eye out for Shelby in case he felt like talking about anti box-turtle bias.

Sokka, who had been out for a walk, stared at the giant... thing. Sort of like an elephant-mandrill, but with the head of an elephant-rat.

"Okay, that's new," he muttered. "I think I'd've noticed one of them around."

Efferton Manor

Faile had taken to wandering around, trying to see if there were any clues that would explain why she had ended up (been sent?) here. She stopped when she saw the stegosaurus. There were many strange things on this world, but John had not mentioned large creatures like this. Still, this was a strange place, it might be normal. She decided to watch it for a while to see if it was a threat.

Anne had decided that it was a nice night to explore the island a little more, and of course Efferton Manor, abandoned as it was, seemed like such a deliciously scary and romantic place that she just had to go to it.

She had been fully intending to simply stand outside and stare at it while concocting a lurid and creepy fantasy about fictional inhabitants in her head, but the stegosaurus rather distracted her from that aim.

"What in the world?"

Having utilized the Lemon Law to its full potential, Barney walked home. As he went past Efferton Manor, he was surprised by what he saw in the front yard.

These dinosaurs should not be provoked. They're not here to fight you. Save your strength for tomorrow. Feel free to stop by and investigate and maybe say hello. They can't talk and remember that they are wild animals after all. Your prehistoric creature of choice is being played by a lovely volunteer this evening. Be sure to play nice.

Would Ronan be able to speak to them? He's theoretically capable of speaking to anything, up to and including a toaster -- one that toasts bread, not Capricans -- and would be quite interested in talking to a dinosaur, even if they're not much for conversation.
