Groovy Tunes, Saturday

Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail were playing on their own in the store window today. Charlie wasn't even writing. Just leaning on the counter with her eyes closed, experiencing the joy of her Very First Hangover. Made worse by the horrible, horrible suspicion that she'd said something very stupid to Dean last night. The singing had been bad enough, but then she'd been kind of incoherently confiding after that. If she'd known about the Radio broadcast, she would have felt even worse. So she hadn't really been paying attention to her surroundings when she headed in to work. Weird big bird in the sky, though.

Groovy Tunes was open. Playing very soft New Age music.

As it happened, saber tooth tigers loved New Age music.

Okay, no they didn't.

But he smelled other cats and decided to investigate.

With big sharp teeth.

The tiger slunk behind a display of CDs and hunkered down, tail lashing in the air.

Mmm. Lunch.

Oooh. Movement.

Naturally the giant kitty leaped towards it.

No fair. He just wanted lunch, not random things thrown at his head.

He tried one, just to be sure they weren't food.

"The Best of Yanni" tasted just as bad as it looked.

He let out a very annoyed snarl.

The tiger leaped for the edge of the counter to show his very awesome teeth at the yummy lunch--ooooh, carrying apppetizers! How polite!-- and one paw landed on the smoking bit.

He yowled and swiped his claws down on the problem.

Oooh. No more corner. Problem solved.

Back to trying to eat lunch.

Oh, yes.

The tiger licked his lips, crouched down and sprang.

Lunch!

The tiger hissed at the fire, then leaped for one of the fleeing kittens, leaving the door unblocked.

Now he was a drenched and hungry saber tooth tiger who was not at all interested in becoming kitty flambé.

He pounced, he ate, he took a nap, he moved on. That was the plan.

This was not going according to plan.

He let out a shriek of outrage.

The tiger skittered out of the way of the random hot spot, then spent the next fifteen minutes wreaking happy mayhem in the shop.

And eating all the candy.
