Lana opened the store in a particularly good mood. Jim was back and his father had praised him - whatever the reason - and last night had been wonderful and yes, it was just a marvelous day!

She might have been - no, she definitely was - singing as she went about her work.

[What? It was always here! *facepalms*]

She's in a particularly good mood and will be here till just before 5th period!

Look, there was Savannah looking like she was pretty excited about something.

"Savannah!" Lana said happily. Yes, she was just about bouncing today. "How are you?"

Savannah beamed at her and leaned against the counter. "I asked a guy out on a date."

"Really?" Lana said. "Who? And have you been? I assume he said yes, because you're looking terribly happy!"

"We had a picnic in my room on Saturday night because of the dinosaurs." She was beaming. "Chris is who I went out with."

"Dinosaurs?" Lana was taken aback. "There really were dinosaurs? I thought I was hallucinating!" She looked stunned for a moment. "Never mind. So, Chris. Chris Halliwell? He's a good guy. I like him a lot."

She nodded. "Chris Halliwell. His brother suggested I ask him out."

"Wyatt?" Lana's feelings about him were still a little mixed - and tinged with embarrassment and shame. They hadn't gotten along at all when they'd met, but then when she'd been possessed they'd... She didn't even like thinking about it. She had to give him credit though, once he'd realized it really hadn't been her he'd been very nice about it. She hadn't expected that of him.

"Well, I'd have to agree," Lana said with a smile. "I think he's a great choice. Did you have a good time? As if I even have to ask?"

"He was very adamant that he wanted me to date Chris and not Johnny... no one seems to believe me when I say that Johnny has been nothing but nice to me." She grinned at Lana. "I had a very nice time with Chris and he's so sweet."

"Johnny is very nice," Lana agreed. "But for your first boyfriend type? You really want someone with whom there's at least the possibility of things being special between you. Between all of Johnny's girls and all of his boys... you'd never be the only one or the most important one. He wants to date as many people as he can and experience all he can - which is fine as long as he's up front about it. But I don't think you'd be happy being one of a string of people he's with."

"That's what Wyatt and Anders said... just like you. They want me to date someone who will want me to be as special to them and they are to me."

"Exactly," Lana said. "If you were out there dating a different boy every night I wouldn't think twice about you dating Johnny occasionally, but you clearly want something different for yourself."

"I don't think Wyatt or Anders... or Eve... would let me do that. They are a little protective."

"There's nothing wrong with a few harmless dates," Lana replied. "Out for coffee or ice cream or to go bowling."

"Now, if you were to start fooling around with a bunch of different guys... that we'd have to do something about," she said with a smile.

Savannah smiled at her. "You're like my sister," she nodded. "Keep me from doing the dumb stuff if you can can catch me at it..."

"That's the idea," Lana said with a smile.

She and Proudfoot will be down when Lana has to leave for class.

Gabriel was out of books. This, apperantly, was a book store. He entered the shop and eyed the shelves suspiciously.

"Gabriel!" Millie smiled at him delightedly. "I haven't seen you in a long time!"

Gabriel raised an eyebrow at her cheerfulness. Still, he kept and eye open for shadowy extra arms. "Hello Millie. I need something to read."

And then he noticed the cat.

"Well, you've come to the right place," Millie said, no shadowy arms in view as yet. "I have plenty of books of all kinds!"

Proudfoot raised her head and sniffed at Gabriel, then sat upright not sure whether to be wary or try and bask in the power he exuded.

"I can see that," Gabriel said and walked over to one of the shelves, pulling a book out at random and flippins through it. He finally put it back and pulled out another.

When passing Proudfoot he hissed at her.

Proudfoot hissed back. She was an Asheth Temple cat and when provoked... Well, she wasn't quite as violent as Throgmorten, but she could certainly move fast enough to make it appear that she had far more than her share of razor sharp claws and teeth.

Besides, this was her store and her person. No one was allowed to threaten that.

Gabriel knew from experience that even kittens could be vicious, so we wasn't going to try his luck with a grown-up cat. He continued looking for books.

Proudfoot eased down a little, but didn't take her eyes off Gabriel for a second.

Appearantly the random approach didn't quite work. Gabriel turned to Millie again. "Have anything you recommend?"

"What sort of books are you interested in?" Millie asked. "My favorites, of course, are the Millie of Lowood House books. There are quite a few of them, but may not be quite to your taste."

"I like books where lots of people die. Reminds me of the Bible." He shrugged. "But I guess I could try one of those," he added, referring to the Millie books. "Be open for new experiences."

"Well, perhaps another time I can find you a book where lots of people die. I'm not familiar with the Bible however. Is it a sort of thriller?" she asked innocently as she collected the first of the Millie books and handed it to him.

"Suppose you could say that," Gabriel replied drily, examining the book. "I'll have this one for now." He dug the money out of his pocket.

She took his money and gave him change, then slipped the book into a bag before handing it back to him. "There are quite a few others in the series. Please do come back if you'd like more."

Accepting the bag, Gabriel actually looked pleased. Reading was a great way to make time pass, and appearently there was a wide choice of books available. He left the shop, humming to himself.
