Around Town, but Mostly the Part; Monday Morning.

After being so wrongly pulled from bed to go running with his roommate, A.J.'s attitude about the situation didn't seem to improve very much. How could it be so warm even just this early? How did Troy honestly expect A.J. to be able to keep up with him? And, most importantly...

"Why couldn't there still be dinosaurs so I wouldn't have to do this?"

[[ mostly for Troy; sp due to conflicting work schedules, but it's an open space, open post, so if you wanna stop one of the boys, go for it. A.J. would be pretty thankful for the breather ]]

Troy jogged a bit in place, his shirt already shed as he welcomed the warmth of the day. "Maybe the island wants you to do this!" he replied, grinning. "C'mon, it won't be that bad. I'll take it easy on you."

"Why would the island want me to beat on it with my feet, dude?" A.J. asked, shaking his head.

Troy stretched, working out a minor kink in his shoulder. "Because it's a good way to get and keep in shape! And so that you're ready for the next invasion, whatever that is."

"But we escaped the dinos just fine," A.J. pointed out, but he was reaching behind him to grab his foot as he stretched his leg out a little. "I escaped even better than you did, with that ankle."

Troy pouted. "That's not the point. The point is that we're going to go running, and you're going to enjoy it, and thank me for it."

"Yeah, I can picture it now. 'Thanks, Troy; now I can't get out of bed because my body is striking against me.'" Troy pouting at him would have had A.J. pouting back if he weren't too busy yawning. "Hooooo-kay, let's get this show on the road. Then we can get done sooner." He bounced a little from foot to foot, shaking out his arms, his head, his floppy, floppy hair. "Let's do this thing."

Hmm, Troy had his shirt off. Maybe he should take his shirt off, too. He might regret it in the warm weather wearing one, even if it was just a tank top. On second though, after seeing Troy without his shirt, A.J. figured he'd be more comfortable with his shirt on, because then people wouldn't compare. Being compared to that would leave A.J. not on good shirtless standing, in his mind.

A tiny voice in Troy's head may have been saying that he wished that A.J. would take his shirt off, but Troy was mostly ignoring that voice, which had appeared after the boykissy incident on Saturday night.

"Great! Okay, we're gonna head across the park first, I guess?" he said, ready to take off.

"...Huh?" A.J. looked up at Troy and blinked. He might have been a little...distracted. He shook his head. "Uh, yeah, sure. That works. Lead the way; I'll probably be about five miles behind you the whole time anyway."

Troy shook his head. "I'll take it easy, give you a better chance of keeping up." He grinned, and started jogging away, leaving A.J. to follow.

And A.J. followed, having no problem keeping up, especially at first, despite all his claims otherwise. The hair flopping with every step, though, was a little distracting.

A little distracting to Troy, too, who kinda wanted to reach out and brush it back. He resisted, however, and started to let himself fall into the rhythm of the jogging.

"Remind me again why we couldn't do this at normal-people time?" A.J. asked after a moment, running a hand through his hair as if that would help it keep back, which it didn't. It just went right back. He should get a bandana or something to wear for next time.

Wait. That would mean there would have to be a next time. Great.

"Gets too hot," Troy replied, the easy pace of the jog leaving with more than enough breath to speak. "Do you really want to be running when it's hotter than this?"

There was totally going to be a next time.

Considering A.J. was already starting to feel a little too warm?

"Dusk," he said after a moment, "we could jog at dusk. Cools down, and I'm actually awake."

"But there's more time ahead of you in the morning, and then you're awake for the rest of the day!"

"Your optimism is astounding, Troy."

Troy shrugged. "You're not the first person to tell me that," he replied, as he rounded the bend in the path.

A.J. grinned a little. "Apparently, I'm not the first person to tell you a lot of stuff," he said, although he couldn't remember exactly what it was that Troy had said that about last time.

Well, at least he had a first on something here, hum hum...

Not that Troy could remember, either, and so he just took it at face value that he had. "Well, we'll find something you can be first at," he said, and then misstepped a moment when it occured to him that they already had...

Although, luckily, he recovered himself, and neither fell nor hurt his ankle again.

A.J. just sort of cleared his throat, and decided it best not to point out the error in Troy's statement. He figured with that misstep, Troy had picked up on it. "Careful, man..."

Troy grinned. "Sure, I'll do that." He paused, not missing a step as he did. "Although you might want to look ahead."

"Huh?" A.J. frowned at Troy for a second before it clicked in his head what the other boy had said. But, by the time he did look ahead...

Wham! "Ow," A.J. muttered, staggering to the side a little and holding his forehead. "Tree..."

Troy had already gone a few strides ahead when he heard A.J.'s introduction to the tree, and had to stop and turn back to help the other boy. "Are you all right?" he asked. "I didn't realise you hadn't actually seen it."

"Tree injury," A.J. said, gingerly rubbing his forehead with an embarrassed grin on his face. "Better stop running before I get even more injured."

"Pssh. I've seen people stay on the court after running into guys much harder than that tree." He paused. "Dumber, too." He shrugged. "C'mon, let's keep going!" He started to jog away agan.

"Arrrrrgg," A.J. said, shoulders slumping and arms dragging over dramatically. for a moment before he jogged up to catch up with Troy. "Slave driver," he added, nudging into his roommate a little with his shoulder.

Troy grinned, and nudged back.

A little too hard. The two of them went sprawling to the side of the path, Troy landing on top of A.J. as the fell.

A.J. hit the ground with a grunt, laughing. "Dude, not co--" Abruptly, he cut off as he realized...well, hey there, Troy. Rhere on top of him. Sweaty and shirtless. How did that even happen? "Uhh..."

Troy "Uhh..."ed right back at A.J. For a fraction of a section, the merest hint of one, he leaned down just slightly, his eyes hooded, before abruptly leaning back and getting off of A.J. "You okay?" he asked, sufficiently macho, dusting himself off. "Sorry about that."

A.J.'s head fell back from where he had been holding it slightly up, into the grass with a grunt. That whole...moment before pulling back was almost as not fair as the fact that he'd shoved him down in the first place. Closing his eyes, he sighed, letting out some of that tension. "See?" he said, finally. "Jogging is dangerous."

And such a tease.

"Only with you," Troy replied. "I think a lot of things are more dangerous with you. And more fun, too."

And then he realised how that sounded, and blushed.

More dangerous, huh? A.J. sat up, arms on his knees, and he let out a breath, grinning up at Troy. "Yeah, yeah," he said, jerking his chin up slightly. "Go on ahead. I'll catch up when I'm done almost dying."

Troy shook his head and sat down beside A.J., who he then nudged -- slightly -- in the shoulder. "Nah, I'll wait," he said. "Don't want to show you up too much."

"Psh." Seconds after Troy sat down, A.J. pulled himself up. "Let's go, then. You sitting down is showing me up just as much, you know."

Troy grinned. "I know. I didn't say that I don't want to show you up at all."

A.J. rolled his shoulders and shook out his arms. "Yeah, yeah," he said and started jogging in place (flopping hair and everything) and waiting for Troy to get back up. "Let's just get this finished before one of the ducks decides to attack me or something."

Troy nodded, and got up, ready to head off jogging once again.

The jogging started up again, but A.J. fell back slightly. Not for being tired or lack of ability to keep up, though. You see, jogging was dangerous. Sudden tries, unknown strength, killer ducks...

...and tackling roommates. Next thing Troy would know would be A.J.'s arms around his waist, tumbling down with Troy, grin on his face.

Troy laughed as they went down, surprised at A.J.'s actions but certainly also amused. "Hey!" he called, as they fell to the ground. "I suppose I deserved that."

"Yup," A.J. grinned over at Troy, leaning in slightly. It was a little evil to have done that, but now that he was on top, he could be...a lot more evil. He certainly felt a pull to do something evil as he looked over at Troy, but thinking about it, looking at him, just made him realize that he....couldn't. HIs face was filling with too much red and he bit his lip nervously. Well, he could....

Instead, he just reached over and ruffled Troy's hair with his hand before pressing into him before pushing himself up. "Now we're even."

Troy took a moment before getting up himself, a little confused at the moment that had just passed between them. "Yeah," he said. "Even."

This was getting to be an interesting experience.
