Groovy Tunes, Thursday

Most of the mess from the weekend was gone; Chad had cleaned up the last of it when he was in for later shifts. Charlie was just putting up new posters, to replace the ones that had gotten burned and water-damaged, and setting up a new display of CDs.

Today's Mix: Barenaked Ladies, Fray, Snow Patrol and K.T. Tunstall.

She's still a little jittery from sleep deprivation and caffiene overload, but she's happy to help.

Billy wanted music. And not the kind you meditate too. Maybe the kind you could exercise to, but mostly he wanted music for the fun of it.

"Hey Charlie." he smiled. He wondered if she'd gotten a handle on that fire thing she did.

"Hey, Billy. Looking for anything today?" Charlie said, trying to look helpful. "We've got some new hip-hop in?"

"I don't know about hip-hop, but what've you got in the techno genre?"

"We've got some Zombie Nation, and Aphex Twin?" Charlie offered. "They're pretty good. Hey, you could listen to whatever you want with earphones, if you find a CD that looks good."

"Zombie Nation sounds interesting. I'll do that, thanks. How'd you fare in your first Fandom invasion?"

"Not too great but not too bad. I got cornered by a sabretooth in here," Charlie said, gesturing to the corner where she'd been boxed-in, and handing over a Zombie Nation CD. "I managed to throw some CD's at it, then frighten it off for a minute with some fire, then run for it. Did you see any over the weekend?"

"Oh God I officially hate Sabertooth Tigers." Billy turned and pulled up his shirt, revealing the bandaged, still healing scratches on his back. "One of them jumped me in the preserve."

"Owww! That looks painful! How did you get away?" Charlie asked, pushing her hair up to show the stitches on her forehead. "I got splinters, and this cut, but that was it."

"I hit it with a rock. And then I got lucky that it's next swipe hit my prosthetic. If it'd been a real leg I'd be stool right now."

"Uh, charming." Charlie blinked, then nodded. "I'm glad you're okay. And that those things really didn't like being hurt."

"Yeah sorry." Billy apologized. "I'm glad you're okay. And that it seems you've gotten a bit of a handle on those powers."

"No prob. And a little? Not a lot," Charlie admitted. "I'm still learning. Johnny and Isabel have been a big help, with letting me explore and figure stuff out. What happened in here was mostly an accident."

"See I'd go with reflex." Billy said. "Control is good, but sometimes you've just gotta let your reflexes do what they need to do. You don't always have time to think." He wondered if he should talk to Liz about the whole learning to control the fire thing.

Charlie flinched at that idea, and shook her head. "*Not* a good idea. My reflexes are a little over-trained." A nice way of saying they were lethal. "And shutting it off is difficult. I'm just as likely to get hurt as anyone else, the way things stand now."

"Well okay bear in mind I know nothing of superpowers, so, yeah. Also I think I jumped ahead several steps. Control does need to come first, so that your relexes don't make you do something stupid."

"Yeah, like that." Charlie sighed, then shook her head. "So, what's the techno for? You just like it?"

"I spent some time in Europe, it kinda grows on you. Plus practicing my ninja training is more fun with music."

"Coooool. Do you know Adam? He does a lot of martial arts too." Charlie took the CD and started to ring it up. "More music?"

"If it's the same Adam I'm thinking about, he's my room mate." Billy said with a laugh. "What else do you recommend?"

"Adam Park?" Charlie laughed, and said, "He's helping me learn martial arts, when this place isn't being invaded. And, hmm...." She thought about it a moment, then pointed upward, to where the speakers were blaring Barenaked Ladies' Pinch Me. "These guys are good?"

Billy grinned. "They really are. I even know who they are, though they were just getting noticed when I left the mainland for here."

"Cool!" Charlie added their latest CD to his total, and then popped both in a bag for him. "It should make exercise entertaining, those guys are hysterical. Say hi to Adam for me, when you see him?"

"Will do. Thanks a lot Charlie. And good luck in your own training."

They're a little skittish this week, but as long as you don't try to bite them, they won't bite you.

Around all day, but cleaning house. Pings will be there but might get interrupted.
