Caritas - Friday evening [Open]

GOB wasn't at the bar at opening. Tino wasn't sure where he was, but GOB made it abundantly clear that he WASN'T going to be at a bookstore on the mainland where nobody would recognize him, waiting in line for a book about a young male magic user. And if he were, it would only be for research. Becuase GOB was a magician. Or Illusionist. Whatever sounded better for the excuse for what he was NOT DOING.

Tino also made a point to put up a sign:

It probably was no surprise when Jeff ordered a lager on his way in.

His facial expression, caught somewhere between horror, surprise, and complete discombobulation, was another matter entirely.

"So you're not going to get plastered, sing about zombies, and declare your secret love for me or anything are you?" Dean teased Alec as they made their way up to the bar.

"First two are a possibility, the third is distinctly not," Alec said dryly, taking a seat.

Dean chuckled and ordered them both beers. "Good. That's not really something I want to become a routine with Caritas visits." He paused. "Do you even know any songs about zombies?"

"I could make one up," Alec said, grinning. "The rest of the bar may not thank you for it, depending on how much I've had to drink at that point."

"I think I'd like to see what you'd come up with," Dean said thoughtfully. "Especially if you were drunk."

"It'll probably involve making zombie-like noises and mentioning brains a lot," Alec said.

"The staple of the zombie diets everywhere," Dean declared, raising his beer in a toasting motion before taking a deep drink.

Alec returned the gesture and sighed contentedly. "It feels like forever since I've been here. Why don't we go drinking more often?"

Dean shrugged. "Dunno. We should see about getting out more. Maybe we can see about going to the mainland this weekend, have a real outting, see how much trouble we can get into."

"Nah, I've got a thing," Alec began, then glanced at Dean with a sly smirk. "You could come too, actually."

"Sure," Dean said, easily agreeable. "What kind of thing?"

"Cheerleader tryouts," Alec said, smirk widening.

Dean grinned. "Yeah I suppose I can come along and watch the wannabes. I mean there's worse ways to spend a day than watching pretty girls in short skirts with pompoms."

GOB walked into Caritas with a black eye before taking his spot behind the bar. Tino looked at him quizzically.

GOB said, very simply, "Don't try to get ahead of a bunch of little brats when they want a damn book."

Tino looked at the clock. It was well before midnight.

"Offering sexual favors to the girl behind the counter doesn't work either."

Tino poured GOB a drink.

"And taking off your pants will get you thrown out of the store. Just so you know."

"Come along and watch?" Alec looked positively evil. "How about you come down and try out, instead."

Dean stared at him. "Dude."

"Just after noon, tomorrow in the gym," Alec said, grinning. "Be there, dude."

"This is cruel and unusual," Dean complained.

"Cheerleading is nothing to be ashamed of," Alec said, mock-sternly.

Dean pouted at him.

He shook his head. "You're so not getting out of this now."

"But-"
