Millie opened the store quite cheerfully. She spent some time straightening up, then curled up in one of the comfy chairs for a good read while she awaited customers.

Sabriel was a girl on a mission. She had gathered all her money, and written a long list, and now she entered the bookshop and looked around hopefully.

After the lunch rush at the hotel, Mary dropped by to see Millie and pick up a book on dating. She had a feeling that she was going to need some sort of reference if she couldn't contact Delinda or Sam for advice.

"Hi, Mary," Millie said cheerfully. "It's good to see you!"

"Thanks!" said Mary. "How are you doing? Have you found any new spicy foods yet?"

"I've tried some different hot sauces," Millie said happily. "And I keep trying to get over to the Hotel for lunch but something always seems to come up with the Mun's schedule."

"I know what you mean. Things always seem to come up," said Mary. "We do have a new resident who likes spicy food, though, and Gunther has really taken to him enough that he's looking up spicy recipes."

"Really?" Millie said curiously. "Who is that?"

"His name is John Connor and he's a new teacher. He seems like a nice guy so far. He came to my rescue when I got attacked during the whole dinosaur mess, then he took charge of protecting the hotel while I was in the clinic," explained Mary.

"Oh, I believe he was a student here - just graduated," Millie said. "Well, he does seem handy to have around!"

"He just graduated?" asked Mary, surprised. "He looked like he had to be in his mid-twenties, at least. Or I must be really bad with guessing ages."

"Time moves differently outside of Fandom," Millie said. "Makes things rather difficult to follow sometimes."

"I forget that sometimes," said Mary. "To my friends back in Las Vegas, I've only been gone a week. I talked to my old boss the other day and he was surprised when I mentioned that they missed my birthday."

"It is odd," Millie agreed. "Though so far I haven't had a problem with reaching home."

"It works for me, though. I had to leave home because of some trouble, and with time moving slowly there, it hasn't caught up with me," said Mary, looking a little sad.

"I'm sorry," Millie said sympathetically. "I'm a pretty good listener, if you ever want to talk."

"It's a long, crazy story," said Mary, "but thankfully it seems to be in the past. Thanks for the offer, though."

"I'm actually here for a book today," said Mary, grinning. "Where's the section on relationships? I think I can use all the help I can get."

Millie pointed her in the right direction. "I signed up for that three-minute date thing myself," she admitted.

"Me too!" said Mary cheerfully. "Hopefully it'll be fun and I'll actually meet some guys who are closer to my age."

"I'd like that," Millie said happily.

"I've been on a couple of dates lately," said Mary, picking out a book and leafing through it. "They've been interesting, I guess you could say. One ditched me at Caritas in less than five minutes."

There's also the date she has tomorrow with Johnny Storm, which she's having second thoughts about. And third thoughts. And fourth thoughts.

"I haven't had any," Millie admitted. "But then I'm not nearly as pretty as you are."

"Oh, you're very pretty," Mary was quick to reassure her. "Besides, you don't want to be like me. My type of prettiness just seems to invite trouble."

"I don't seem to invite anything," Millie said ruefully.

"You've created a warm, inviting atmosphere in your store," pointed out Mary. "And you can make napkin animals," she added with a smile.

Millie grinned. "Well, there is that."

"I'm willing to bet that you meet someone fabulous at that three minute dates thing while I get stuck with all the teenage boys who stare at my chest," said Mary with a smirk.

"We'll see," Millie said with a grin, "But I'm not holding my breath!"

"That could be a good thing," said Mary with a mischievous smile. "Otherwise, you'd turn blue and we wouldn't want that."

Millie giggled. "Well, if nothing else, we can get together afterwards and share experiences."

"Sounds like a plan," said Mary.

"All right then," Millie said with a grin. "Maybe we can get together Sunday night or Monday and gossip."

"We could do drinks at Caritas on Sunday night, or I could persuade Gunther to come up with something spicy for Monday's menu at the hotel. Either one works for me," said Mary.

Let's say drinks Sunday night - unless one of us has good luck and is busy that night. Then we'll do Monday," Millie suggested. "I cover for Lana Monday afternoons, so I'd have to be very careful of time then."

"Sunday night it is, then," said Mary. "I'll buy the first round of drinks if you don't meet anyone promising," she added with a smile.
