Mary was in a very good mood as she came down to the lobby to help set up afternoon tea. She had a good time at the ball last night and had only heard good things about the food Gunther made.

There wasn't a whole lot of warning for what happened next. One moment, Mary was setting a pitcher of milk on the buffet table. The next thing she knew, she was looking up at the table and hoping Gunther would give her a saucer of milk. She swished her tail and meowed hopefully, trying to get the chef's attention.

Yes, Mary had turned into a kitten.

Millie showed up, dressed somewhat formally and wearing a fair number of bracelets and anklets, to meet Stanley for tea.

"Fancy seeing you here," Stan said with a smile. "You dressed up?" He's impressed.

"I did a bit," she said smiling, waving her hand with a clash-tink to demonstrate. "As you requested."

He was impressed. He said so. "I'm impressed. And this is part of the temple regalia? This outfit?" He adjusted his tie slightly. His dress suit was not quite up to the level of a tux, but it was well-tailored and, in his opinion, made him look dashing.


[What is Millie wearing? Flowy robes? Evening gown? Jackie-O pink dress, jacket, and pillbox hat? Medieval plate mail? *grin* Or is it her normal garb but with more bangle-y things?]

"It's similar to the daily outfits I wore there. I only dressed up for the once a year festival when they brought me out so people could touch me and have a direct blessing from Asheth," she explained. "And I couldn't really move in that ceremonial outfit. It was hot and heavy with lots of gold and embroidery and jewelry. And it's designed for small girls. The bangles are some I wore then, however, and the anklets."


[She's wearing a dressier version of her usual clothes. Long loose skirts, flowing tunic top, bright colors.]

"I've found," he said with a grin, "that the more formal the event, the more restrictive the clothing. There's a step up from this," he said, indicating his navy blue three-piece suit, "that includes a sash, uncomfortable shoes, and a tie like a noose."

"I like the way it sounds," he said, listening to her move as she talked.

She laughed, "Yes, I've seen my guardian wear clothes like that. Quite silly, although they can look quite dashing. I far prefer clothes one can move in myself."

She smiled and blushed a bit.

"I'm the same way, but people tend to look askance at a professional in beach sandals and a loud Hawaiian shirt, so suits are my everyday uniform. But I agree; it's important to move," he said, wondering if she's blushing because of him or from some other reason.

She nodded. "Yes, Gabriel, my guardian, says that a proper suit is an integral part of his business attire. I don't believe I've ever seen him in anything comfortable. Do you sometimes wear these... loud Hawaiian shirts?"

And yes, she would definitely be blushing a bit because of him. This was, after all, the first date-sort-of-thing she'd ever been on.

Stan was wearing a formal suit, different from the one last night from the Policeman's Ball. He looked rather dapper.

"Aww! Someone let a kitty in here," he said, offering his hand for scritches. "I don't think Mary wants a kittywitty at her tea, though. Are you lost?"

"Want some milk? Water? Okay, this isn't good," he half muttered to himself. "Mary'll freak if she finds a cat here."

He reaches out to scoop up the bundle of fluff. "Wanna get some milk?"

She knows know she is, but she also thinks like a kitten.

And seriously, I just had an interview for a promotion this week and my boss demanded to know how she can contact me in case she wants to make a job offer. I asked if she was willing to pay for a satellite phone. *rolls eyes*

Don't think I'll be getting the job.
