Having gained a bit of energy back after Jeff's visit, Turtle went to go track down the other person that should probably know that she was back.

"Chaaaaaarlie!" She hopped into the store later that day. "Hi!"

"Tuuuuuurtle!" Charlie yelled back, gleeful. "You weren't kidnapped by terrorists or closets or closet terrorists! Welcome back!"

Grinning back, Turtle noted, "Well, that first part is actually kind of true, but it isn't as exciting as one might previously think."

"Seriously? Coooool," Charlie said with a grin. "Jeff was really worried after that phone call, you know. Nice job freaking him out."

"I didn't mean to!" Turtle's eyes widened and there was definitely flailing. "It wasn't my fault Angela took the phone from me and tossed it out the car window! And I explained it to him, it's all okay, and I think it's very nice that he was planning to come rescue me, even if it wasn't needed."

Snickering, Charlie said, "It was! It was. I just had no idea what to do when he panicked at me. Plus now he thinks I'm crazy because I thought that he thought you were in his closet. Your boyfriend veers, Turtle. And she tossed it out the car window?" Charlie blinked. "What the heck happened?"

Turtle winced a little at the idea of Charlie being exposed to Jeff in frantic panic my-girlfriend-is-locked-in-a-closet-and-or-kidnapped mode. However, she was grateful she talked to Jeff about this before Charlie, to better prepare herself for the fact that her best friend probably thought her boyfriend was insane. Which he was. But Turtle had warned her!

"Jeff is just Jeff," she said in defense of that part, shaking her head, "and Angela's just Angela." She looked up toward a clock. "How much time you got? Should I give you the abridged version or the detailed one?"

Which didn't negate the fact that Charlie thought Jeff and Turtle were really *cute* together.

"Nothing but time," Charlie said, spreading her arms out. "I'm getting off early tonight to go work on the backstage stuff for the play. You have to come see it! Lots of special effects and the actors are good too." She grinned. "Even if our technical director is currently a puppy."

"Already planning on it," Turtle said with a slightly dopey grin. "Jeff and I are going....together." Hastily, so that it didn't seem too couply, she added, "And stuff! But, yeah, wouldn't miss it for anything. Not even," and here, she felt it was an excellent build-up to introduce what was her week, "my insane sister leaving her groom at the alter, stealing my mom's car, and kidnapping me to go on a roadtrip spanning half the country."

"No way!" Charlie said, thrilled. "Oh my god, seriously? That's why the shrieking 'Angela!' that Jeff told me about? What set her off? That's like living in a chick flick!"

"I know," Turtle rolled her eyes. "I blame it on the fact that all Angela ever really did was sit around watching too much Lifetime." She leaned on the counter a little, looking back at Charlie. "She got annoyed because I was talking to him too much on the phone or something, and it was supposed to be a boys-free, sister-only thing, I guess? So, yoink! Took the phone, tossed it out the window, and then accused me of being too boy-crazy. Me! I wasn't the one about two steps from walking down the aisle, but I guess it's better late than never that she came around."

Charlie cracked up, then when she stopped giggling, said, "It is! Especially if her fiancee is the tool you said he was. How did your mom and dad take it? You didn't get blamed, did you?" Like she had for Angela's bombing tendencies.

Well, there was a slight difference between getting blamed and shouldering the blame because you were a minor and, therefor, could get out of a criminal record....

"Surprisingly well. I think Mom was just so glad to see that she was safe that it went over really well when we got back and she explained that she wanted to finish school...total ohmigawd yay, by the way...first. And she always talked to Doctor Tool about it, so he knew it was going to happen. Helps, that, letting the groom know when you're leaving him at the alter."

"Ohhhh. Well, that's dramatic, but less bizarre, then," Charlie said, nodding. "And woo, about her going back to school. I know how much that bugged you, and seriously, I'd never get married before I graduated college." She grinned. "So you didn't have to wear the taffeta?"

"I didn't have to wear the taffeta!" Turtle announced exhuberantly, throwing up her arms in victory. "Or sit through a boring ceremony, or have to walk down the aisle paired up with Theo, or have to watch Angela and Denton Deere, ugh, kiss, and my sister finally woke up to her senses. So, phone tossing and probably giving Jeff a near heart-attack aside, it was a good week. Weird, but good."

"Theo? And yay for the good week!" Charlie cheered along with Turtle, then giggled. "Maybe next time she gets married, you can take Jeff as a date?"

"That'll be, like, in at least four more years, Charlie!" Turtle said, giving her friend a very sharp You've got to be kidding me look. Although it softened significantly at the end as she started to think that, well, maybe...

Ugh. Turtle was going to have to go look in the mirror before the play tonight and scold herself for being such a dopey nerd over this boyfriend thing. Seriously.

Charlie giggled again, happy to have gotten a reaction, and said, "Just an idea! You didn't miss much else this week, although our crazy Principal is getting crazier, and says she's going to do a dorm inspection. And half the people I know were fuzzy animals this week or last week or getting over being fuzzy animals. It's *very* good to have you back."

Turtle preened a little at that last bit. Of course she knew people were going to miss her, but it was always nice to hear about it. "I've never been partial to cute fuzzy animals, anyway. But inspections? What is she hoping to inspect for?"

"Oh, who knows. Evidence of disrespect? People of the opposite sex still living together? Your guess is as good as mine." Charlie wrinkled her nose. "I think she's just getting frustrated that people keep messing with her office and trashing her on the Radio."

Turtle snorted a bit. "I've been gone, I know, but if she's still making ridiculous edicts like that whole eight inches thing, she can't honestly expect to be taken seriously..." She shook her head. "Adults can be so inept sometimes."

"Pretty much sums it up. Although she's been changing people into animals, and she dissolved all the *bones* in Namine's fingers for days, and she might be inept and crazy, but she's getting really scary." Charlie gave Turtle a worried look. "So, yeah. Be careful when you do Radio, okay?"

A frown surfaced on Turtle's face. Bones from fingers? How was that even possible?

"Maybe another gift basket will be in order on Wednesday," she thought idly.

Charlie snickered. "Anders and I might have some ideas that will make your Radio interesting, on Wednesday. We'll see if they work out, though. Anne whatshername did Radio last week, it was pretty funny, the squirrels kidnapped her." She grinned. "So I'll definitely see you after the play? You can tell us how brilliant we were."

Turtle quirked an eyebrow. "Interesting is good," she commented, and then grinned slightly. "And you do realize you will have to be brilliant, yes? I'm not going to lie and say you are when you aren't."

"Right now, I'd just be happy if you tell us you didn't see where we screw up," Charlie admitted. "God, *so* nervous. The actors are really good, but nothing's perfect, you know?"

"You'll do fine," Turtle said with a wry grin.

Charlie beamed at her. "Thanks. Oh! I have another date tomorrow. With John, this time. I had another one with Rodney, earlier this week. But we need to have another ice-cream talk after tomorrow, okay?"

"Ooooh, definitely. I think I can work that in without a problem."

"Awesome! And yay, welcome back!"
