Caritas - Tuesday 8/21 [Open]

After the incident last week, Dick made sure to say no when Tino offered him more headache medicine when he came in to work. And he also kicked Tino in the shin. Now Dick was cleaning off the bar humming something that sounded suspiciously like "London Bridge" to himself.

Dick loved Fergie.

After Johnny had listened to last night's news report from some guy who didn't even live here full of words that made no sense, he'd been awake until three in the morning, finally passing out until dawn when a herd of squirrels woke him by throwing nuts at his head and screaming at him.

"What the hell is wrong with this town?" he demanded to know as he marched up the bar.

"Uh..." Dick didn't really know where to start. "There isn't a decent burrito place here?"

"Man, I lived in Cincinnati. Trying to find a decent burrito north and east of Texas is just asking for pain," Johnny replied. "I'm more concerned with the squirrels at the moment."

"They're little bastards, aren't they?" said Dick with a grin. "What, did you try take their nuts or something?"

Johnny quirked his head up at the kid. "No! I was asleep in the world's most uncomfortable cot above the radio studio and BAM! Right in the head. I didn't even have a chance for a cup of coffee!"

"Well, they work for the radio station. That's probably why they were there." he said. He raised an eyebrow. "Why were you there?"

"I'm Doctor Johnny Fever," Johnny said. "Barbossa tricked me into taking over for him then fled the place before I got any kind of idea where I am."

He gave the kid behind the bar a pleading look. "Where am I? And what's with the band, man? I get the idea of tribute bands, but that seems a little extreme...the Zombies were good, but a little jazzier than that, you know?"

"Oh so you're my new boss. I'm Dick, I broadcast on Sundays." he said. Dick looked over at the zombies and back at Johnny. "Er...you're in Caritas in the town of Fandom and those are real zombies. They'll play whatever you want."

Cause being able to play whatever you want made the whole undead thing okay.

"'Cause being able to play whatever you want makes the whole undead thing okay," Johnny said, peering over his sunglasses. "Got anything back there strong enough to make this place make sense?"

"Sure, whatever you want. First drink is free." he said. Dick wished someone gave him a free drink when he first came here.

"Vodka. Big one. No ice," Johnny ordered immediately.

"You got it." he said. He came back drink quickly and sat it in front of Johnny. "Enjoy, dude."

"Thanks, Dick," Johnny said. "So what's the skinny on this town?"

Dick barely managed not to laugh at the groovy lingo. "This town isn't like other places. Just in case the squirrels and zombies haven't tipped you off already. There's invasions, people turning into animals, people with superpowers. Anything you think can't exist probably does here."

Johnny gave him a "yeah, right," look. "Suuuuure it does. Anyone talk to you about cutting back on the heavy stuff? Pot's fine, but the rest of it...bad idea."

"Dude, you were attacked by squirrels and there's a bunch of dead guys playing Rat Pack tunes behind you." said Dick. "How do you not believe me?"

Johnny...pretty much had nothing.

"Because I've done some hard stuff?" he tried, drinking from his glass. "Stupid pirate," he muttered.

For passing out needs.

Goddammit I have so much reading to do for class.
