At a pizza place.

Waiting for Jo.

To have a date.

He wasn't sure if he should be hoping she was wearing a shirt this time or not.

"You're wearing clothes!"

Jo nodded. And tried not to laugh. "Yes, yes I am."

"It's better when you wear clothing," Luke declared, looking kind of horrified as his mouth ran away with him, "because then there's less chance of catching a cold and having to drink tea and oh, please, please hit me before I talk again?"

Jo bit her lip to help with the not laughing. "Don't worry, you haven't reached hitting territory yet."

"Good to know," Luke said, looking very relieved. "Sit down? Or, you know, run in terror. I wouldn't blame you."

Jo raised an eyebrow as she sat. "I have to wonder what your previous dates were like."

"I'm normally a lot less babbly," Luke said.

No he wasn't.

"I'm not planning on taking off my shirt again today, if you're worried."

"Good," Luke said, then paused. "Or not good? Because they were nice and stuff and dammit I'm doing it again."

"Thanks," Jo said, blushing slightly. "But I was thinking more inappropriate for a first date than anything."

"Oh, totally," Luke said, blushing too. "Not that the gesture wouldn't be appreciate because I'm a guy, but...yeah."

He coughed. "So. Pizza?"

Master of the transition he wasn't.

"Pizza sounds great," Jo said, glad for the change in topic, no matter how unsmooth it was.

Luke smiled. "I have a confession to make," he said. "I'm pretty much a pizza novice still. There are way too many combinations for me to know what I like best yet."

"If there's pineapple on it, it's usually good pizza."

"I don't think I've tried that yet, except in cookies that River and Dawn made," Luke said, "and that's probably not the best way to find out if you like anything."

"Trust me," Jo said. "It's good."

"I trust you," Luke said, giving her a shy smile.

Jo blushed again. "Thanks."

"Of course if I hate it, I'll blame you forever," Luke teased.

Jo clutched a hand to her chest in false shock. "I don't see how anyone couldn't like it."

"That might do it, yes."

Luke grinned. "I'll try your food and if I like it, you can try something from my home. I'm a good cook."
