Mauvaise Chance Office/Lobby: Tuesday Sept. 11th

Xander was doing something productive behind the counter. Really. He was only exchanging silly e-mails on breaks from the very productive job of re-filing the blank resident applications.

...Or possibly he was watching his new Spooky Things season 2 dvds, yes.

Still, the office was open, the Guy With Tools signs were out on the doors, and he looked productive. Maybe.

"Hey boss," Mel said, waving as she walked through the door. "What's your opinion on mimes?"

"Did they invade?" Xander asked, vaguely remembering having predicted that at one point while he was out of touch with Fandom.

"Nope. I'm thinking of being one for a day. It's the only way I can get rid of a pretend vampire," Mel said as if that explained it all. "Think it's worth it?"

".......How annoying is the pretend vampire? 'Cause....mimes. Is the sacrifice worth it?"

"He calls himself my arch-nemesis and follows me around the graveyard talking about his pacifistic nature and that he can't get dates as a vampire because it freaks girls out," Mel sighed.

"Clearly he hasn't been hanging around the right Slayer. He should try that line on Buffy."

"Can I just stake him instead? I mean he's claiming to be a vampire. We can just claim it to be a mistake?"

"I've worked with Andrew; trust me, I know the temptation. But no, if the other choice is staking a human, I reluctantly have to approve the mime thing." Xander peered over the top of his laptop at her. "Which you think'll work because...?"

"He promised?"

Even to Mel that sounds lame.

But she gives Xander a quiet look of desperation.

"He promised he'd stop pretending to be a vampire if you'd dress up as a mime?" Xander had to admit to a certain amount of twisted curiosity here.

"He's a sick bastard," Mel grumbled. "A mime for an entire day. And acting like one too."

Xander frowned. "I gotta ask again on the is it worth it front. 'Cause, uh, if you want to do it I'll back your play? So far as making sure none of it goes down in the Watcher Journals or anything. But eeeesh."

Isabel still wasn't completely convinced that there wasn't a need for torches and pitchforks after talking to Blackheart (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/2047565.html). But she figured if anyone would know, it would be Xander. So after leaving the store, she headed over to MCA.

"Former Roomie-shaped person!"

Xander stood up and twisted his neck around, trying to check out his own ass. "Are we saying I'm outta shape now?"

"No, you are in perfect shape," she told him with an exaggerated leer. "Former was referring to the fact that yours is no longer the first face I see when I wake up in the morning."

"You tore down the posters of me?" Xander clapped a hand over his heart.

"I'm sorry," Isabel said sadly. "I had to put up my posters of the guys from Spooky Things."

"The one with the Colt boys in the ripped jeans that's illegal in 39 states? Okay, I guess I have to forgive you."

"That would be the one," she grinned. "Damn they're pretty."

Isabel came over and leaned on the counter. "So should I be worried there's a new demon in town? And that he's my little brother's little brother?"

Xander took about three seconds to process the genealogy there. "Isn't your little brother Andrew?"

"Yup," Isabel nodded. "He's all excited about it. He was babbling about Rhinehart's scale or something. Me? I just have Angel and Bel in my head telling me all demons are bad."

Xander frowned. "Most of them are. Not all--" And yeah, this was a pretty big admission coming from him. "But I'm not sure I like the odds on Andrew getting assigned to one that's not."

"Considering he's from an Underworld that features fire, brimstone, and souls screaming in torment?" she replied dryly. "You're probably right."

"I mean, I'd like to think the school wouldn't admit someone that's going to be a threat. Then I think about Umbridge. And what I've heard about Angelus."

"Anybody can be a threat," Xander answered a little grimly. "Back then I thought they had to have Angelus on some kind of leash too, or he wouldn't be here. Thought wrong - he fooled a lot of people."
