Luke's Diner; Wednesday [ 09/12 ]

Oh, dear. A.J. was doing it again, talking to himself. Or perhaps he was talking to the napkin holders, but either way, there wasn't really anyone there to hear him or respond back. Things like, "What are you going to say, A.J. 'Hey, Annette, sorry I totally messed up your relationship, but I'm having second thoughts.'" And things like, "'Seriously, Troy, have you seen Annette? Can you really blame me?'" and "'Oh, God, no, Dick, I need that body part!'"

He didn't really know Dick, after all. And with all the ninjas and wizards and aliens running around this place, it was entirely possible that he'd have to worry about more than just a punch to the face.

"Guhhh..." A.J. spent a lot of time interrupting himself with a headdesk on the countertop.

Yeah, there were special, but A.J. forgot what they were. If anyone asked, it would probably just be whatever.

Because someone should talk to the poor boy other than himself.

Dick came in after talking to Johnny at the Photo Hut. Probably wasn't the best of ideas since Johnny only made him go into frat boy mode.

Yeah, he didn't look happy.

Oh shi--

"Uh, h-hey, Dick."

Ah, counters. Got to love having them and having them between yourself and rather disgruntled looking boyfriends. And he wondered if he could get workman's comp or something if Dick beat him up while he was here at work....

"Hey A.J." Dick said calmly. He came up to the counter and placed his hands against it. The counter also reminded Dick that they were in public, unfortunately. "Do you know why I'm here, A.J.?"

"I'm, uh...I'm guessing it's not a cheeseburger..."

"Good call." He was kind of hungry but that wasn't the point. "So, go ahead. Give me the great reason I'm sure you have for making out with another guy's girlfriend."

A.J. let out a breath; no punches thrown yet, although he knew that could change pretty quickly in a few moments. "Don't have one," he said, although he did. Several. But saying them (because she asked me, because I wanted to, because I kind of get the feeling that her issues are what's keeping the relationship together more than anything else) would probably not be a good idea at this point.

"Uh huh." Dick began to walk his way around the counter. Kinda hard to punch somebody when there's a big heaping pile o' counter in the way. "You know I threw Johnny Storm off a roof for kissing Annette, right?"

"Uhhh, um, no, actually," A.J. said, his eyes slightly darting toward the counter as he shifted just a little bit, further away. He was spry enough; he could probably hop the counter with minimal damage. And at least he could feel grateful that they were already on good old solid ground. Throwing someone from a roof? Oof. "I, uh, didn't..."

...Wait; so she's done this before?

"Yep. But we made up. He's the one that encouraged me to come here, actually." Dick's hangover was getting the better of him and was itching to get this over with. So he took a few quick steps towards A.J. and reached out to grab the collar of his shirt.

Oh, hell. Thankfully, the preamble seemed to have given A.J. the opprotunity to be jumpy about the whole matter so as soon as that hand started reaching out, he went to move away. He was about two seconds from hopping the counter when he realized, what the hell? Why was he going to try to run away like a little bitch? Screw that!

Instead of launching himself over the counter, then, A.J. decided to launch himself at Dick. No idea what the hell he was going to do, but if he was going to get the shit beat out of him (which he most certainly was), he was at least going down with a~~n attempt to~~ fight.

Whoa, Dick hadn't been expecting that. He held out his hands to get a grip on A.J. and push him on the floor. Cause Dick knew he outweighed A.J. and once he got him on the floor, it was all over. ~~not dirty...well...no, not dirty~~

It really didn't help that, despite his efforts, A.J.? Couldn't fight to save his life. Well, perhaps to save his life, but a moment like this that was done purely for the sake of chest beating, he didn't stand a change. A few moments of failing to grapple, A.J. staggered back...

Dick smiled a little and threw his right fist, intent on punching A.J. right in the face. Why push a guy on the floor when you could just punch him onto the floor instead?

Especially when it worked so well. "....shit," A.J. hit the floor with a grunt. That was going to hurt in the morning...hell, it hurt now.

But he did mostly deserve it. Damn, that was a good punch, and A.J. couldn't help sulking as he gingerly rubbedhis face, still flat on his ass.

Dick stood up straight and resisted the urge to cradle his hand. Damn, punching people hurt. He did feel better though. Johnny gave such good advice.

He looked down at A.J. for a second before turning to leave.

Ohhh, damn; wincing at the pain, A.J. really could only really knew Dick was gone because more punches hadn't come and there was that little bell tinkling over the door. "Thanks for stoppin' in, Dick," he muttered, groaning slightly before laying back and splaying his limps a little on the floor. Jesus, he had a good hook on him. Blarg.

That could have gone a lot, lot worse, though. He'd gladly have taken just the black eye that would result from this. Gladly.

Because A.J.'s too busy muttering to himself.

SP is love until I get back from work at 6 pm EST. Boooooooo work.
