Magic Box, Wednesday [ 09/12 ]

Last Wednesday Andrew had brought his didgeridoo to practice. This Wednesday, it was the pan flute.

He was actually quite good.

The Magic Box is open for all your dark and dastardly (or not) needs!

Blackheart was greeted to the sound of pan pipes when he walked into the Magic Box and cast an eye about the store.

It wasn't that he was looking for anything in particular, really. He was just... looking. And if what he picked up today happened to be something that might irritate his father in the future, he'd be thrilled.

Which, really, suited Blackheart just fine. He'd just content himself with poking about the shelves, looking for a charm that would create some sort of flare that a demon wouldn't be able to dismiss, or perhaps try to find some sort if singing telegram so that he could make it sing Gospel songs at his father until the End of Days. He wasn't choosy, really.

"Just browsing," Blackheart said, turning around to see his 'big brother' jumping up to greet him. Such an... outgoing individual, his at-school sibling was. "Unless you can recommend something suitable that could be used as revenge against a parent who thinks it funny to send music featuring a happy purple dinosaur to his high-school son."

"My father is very out of the ordinary," Blackheart said, perhaps snarling a little somewhere behind his more socially acceptable voice. "He's slow and proud, thinks he's got the world underfoot, when really, he's stuck under the world. And through nobody's fault but his own."

He considered for a moment.

"He dislikes light. Something about nothing being quite adequate after he'd taken his fall. I really don't listen to him. Things are more pleasant that way."

"Definitely something stronger," Blackheart agreed. "Something that doesn't run and hide when he walks by. Normal lightbulbs tend to flicker out around him. It's very frustrating."

Stepping out for food, be back soon. :)

Blackheart took the bottle and eyed it critically for a moment, then looked back at Andrew.

"And how does it work?"

[identity profile] way-black.livejournal.com 2007-09-12 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ah." He looked at the bottle again. "I think I'll give it a try," he decided. Even if it didn't work, the attempt would be so very worthwhile.

Had Blackheart known that buying something to torment his father with was going to turn into a game of twenty questions, he might have opted to send his father a baby kitten or something equally obnoxious, instead.

"Me," he said flatly. No, he wasn't full of himself. He was just better than his father, and so far as demons went? It wasn't easy to top the devil.

Okay. That reaction there? The one with the pointy, nasty teeth? Is what is commonly known as a snarl.

"No." There was certainly something hanging on after that 'no,' just itching to be said, but Blackheart certainly didn't seem inclined to share it without putting up a fight first.

[identity profile] way-black.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
"... No."

Blackheart didn't clarify if he was directing that 'no' toward the notion of him being cute, if he was answering Andrew's question, or if, perhaps, it was supposed to be an all-encompassing 'no' and he was neither cute nor spoken for.

In any case, Andrew had certainly stunned the snarl right out of him, and he was staring, baffled, at the boy.

"Go out?" Blackheart's eyebrow raised slightly. "Go out to do what?"

The social graces of humans never ceased to baffle him.

[identity profile] way-black.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
"A double..." Blackheart was trying his best not to deadpan. Date? Was this boy for real?

"We'll see."

Blackheart had never been on a date. There were reasons for this. Mostly they involved the fact that he had spent his entire life in Hell. There wasn't much dating in Hell.

[identity profile] way-black.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"Toothy." Blackheart smirked and stood back for a moment, and it might have seemed that he wasn't about to bother clarifying beyond that point at all.

Except that he did, all in a rush of blood-red eyes and fangs as his face seemed to melt away like cinders in a fire (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v406/Nanashigriff/Blackheart75copy.jpg), and he lunged forward with a sound that wasn't quite a scream and wasn't quite a roar.

He stopped short of actually biting Andrew's face off, of course. Killing the students here would only get him sent home, and he didn't want that.

His face smoothed back into its more human shape, and he took a step back again, looking about as smug as he felt.

[identity profile] way-black.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"..." Blackheart raised an eyebrow.

Excellent. He'd gone and broken the boy.

Perhaps this meant that he didn't have to pay for the light powder...

[identity profile] way-black.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Like CGI, but real? Blackheart was pretty certain that this was intended to be some form of flattery. Even if, for the most part, he had no idea what Andrew was going on about.

He'd take it. Even if it went without saying that he was far more 'cool' than any of the demons back home.

"Of course."

[identity profile] way-black.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Blackheart had never been hugged in his life.

And so, when his 'big brother' had advanced on him, arms open wide, the demon really had no idea what in the world was going on. Simply that suddenly, there was a human with his arms wrapped around him, and it was not the end of the world, and he was very, very confused.

"Um."

[identity profile] way-black.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Blackheart's eyes narrowed a little as he studied the boy. Clearly this was some sort of strange human ritual that he hadn't learned about in his own lifetime.

He'd file that away for future reference.

"I think the powder is enough at the moment," he decided, somewhat eager to leave, lest he wind up wrapped awkwardly in the arms of a human yet again. He was going to have to find out what in the world that gesture was supposed to be.

[identity profile] way-black.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"... Okay."

Humans were weird. Blackheart had no doubt about this whatsoever. He pulled out some money, eager to pay for the powder so that he could get back to plotting ways to torment his father with it.
