Overcome with boredom, Bart was now testing the electronics.

He was starting to wonder what would happen if he increased the volume on the speakers. Maybe made them go to eleven.

Just a thought.

Today's Squishy flavors: Killer tofu, Limp bizkit, Red hot chili peppers

Xander, coming from the church, put his hands over his ears and headed straight back to the hardware section for the glass he needed, do not pass go, do not let the words Kids These Days make it out of his lips because he was not that old, dammit, not, not, not.

Bart stared at the old guy with the eyepatch. Because it was just cool.

"Are you a pirate?"

"I used to be, but then they kicked me out because they caught me paying for stuff," Xander answered. Loudly, so he could hear himself. It was a familiar question, but that didn't mean he couldn't vary the answers.

[Oh LJ WTF. TRY TO KEEP THREADS WHERE PEOPLE PUT THEM KTHX.]

"Really?!" People shouldn't be sarcastic at Bart, he was still new to this. It confused him.

[*offers a bat to beat LJ with*]

Xander studied his expression and had the distinct feeling he should be feeling guilty. Instead of amused. "No. Not that it would surprise me if they did things like that. I'm just a carpenter." He lifted up the pane of glass he'd chosen and a couple of polystyrene shims.

"Oh." Bart might have looked a little crushed as his chance to meet a pirate flew out the window. But that only lasted a few seconds before he was smiling and trying to make Turtle proud with a sale. "Would you like a Squishie too?"

Xander eyed the listed flavors. "I don't think I want to drink anything with Limp in its name."

"Killer tofu?" Bart asked, shaking his own Squishie cup. "It tastes like... well, it doesn't taste like anything really."

"See, I at least like the word biscuit. I wouldn't drink it, but I like 'em. Killer tofu is 0 for two, and that's without putting 'em together."

Bart looked around for Apu before speaking. "I wouldn't try the red hot chili peppers either. It makes Bob shoot flames."

"........Do you see me not asking from where? This is me not asking from where."

Bart nodded seriously and pointed back at the Squishie machine that bore a particularly glittery and pink name tag of Bob.

"She doesn't like that flavour I think."

"Aaaaaaand I think no squishies for me today, thanks. I'll just stick with the hardware."

Bart pouted, but rang up the hardware. "You could come back tomorrow! We get new flavours all the time!"

"I'll think about it," Xander told him.

He would. After killer tofu, he didn't think he could avoid thinking about it.
