Sunday Brunch at Café Fina

Everything seemed to be ready. The buffet tables were sparkling and filled with some of Fina's best. The cheese-grater was wandering with tall glasses of juice - although if anyone wanted something a little stronger, a few words and it could be provided. (So long as they were adults, of course.) The plates were rehearsing their kickline. The pepper-shaker was nervously zipping around here, there, and everywhere, expecting to find something wrong.

Naminé had refused the suggestions that she should costume herself as some sort of kitchenware. At the last moment, as a concession of sorts, she tied a ribbon in her hair and changed into a pinafore, figuring she could pass for meta for Alice. That was a costume, wasn't it?

The Specials Board read:

WELCOME PARENTS, RELATIVES, AND FRIENDS!
PLEASE ENJOY A SUNDAY BRUNCH WITH US!

Café Fina was open.

"Thanks, Barney," Ted said, rolling his eyes as he stood up. "I wasn't sure what was going on, but now I know."

He turned back to Robin. "Come on, let's go (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/2190169.html?thread=98857049#t98857049) design a plate of food."

"Hey, always here for you, buddy!" he said to Ted's retreating form.

"So, Lily, how'd your Marshmallow take the news about his future children?"

"Totally badly! I think you might have to take the bet back. He was really upset."

She hadn't told Marshall about that because "I bet Barney the names of our future spawn" was probably a face to face conversation to be had.

"Given time, you'll both grow to love whatever names I choose," he grinned. "Maybe I'll name one after your doppelgänger!"

"The crazy girl you paid to be my Mini-Me? That's a little wrong, even for you," she said. Because the fact that there was anyone else here that looked like her, and another one elsewhere who did, was not happy to the thought processes.

"Lily, in this town, no one has to pay for a Mini-Me," Barney said. "Mine works in the clinic as some fake doctor." Barney'd met him when he'd been nearly maimed by Dippy the dinosaur.

Lily stared. "You have a Mini-Me?"

"Are you hard of hearing? That's what I just said," he told her, sipping at his drink. "A tiny me look-alike that claims to be a doctor."

She didn't exactly believe him, except that he'd been right about Willow. "Oh yeah? What's his name?"

"Doctor Not!Barney," he deadpanned. "Please, I'd nearly lost a hand to a dinosaur when I met the kid!"

"Is that what you're calling particularly unattractive women now?" she wondered.

"Ha. ha," he said. "No, he's an attractive young man, but he does my face an injustice by being boring. You should meet him, you'd get along great."

"I think I will!" she said, sipping her mimosa. "I wonder if he knows about Principal Mick Jagger."

"He wouldn't get it if he did," Barney said, only slightly worried. And only showing it by chugging his Bloody Mary.

Robin and Ted made their way back to the table. "Wouldn't get what?" she asked.

"Barney's Dr. Mini-Me wouldn't get Principal Mick Jagger," Lily explained.

Re: The Tables

[identity profile] architectmosby.livejournal.com 2007-10-21 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"Why not? Jokes about Mick Jagger being alive are still popular. He'd get it," Ted said.

"So, how was the buffet line?" Barney asked, wanting to topic off his weekend of amnesia and back to the interesting stuff. "Did you return with a mountain of food? Get it, MOUNTain!"

Robin calmly held out her plate so he could see. "Doesn't look like it, Swarley."

Barney ignored Robin and looked at Ted, expecting a good reaction.

"Sorry, Swarley," Ted said. "No mountains over there."
