Sunday Brunch at Café Fina

Everything seemed to be ready. The buffet tables were sparkling and filled with some of Fina's best. The cheese-grater was wandering with tall glasses of juice - although if anyone wanted something a little stronger, a few words and it could be provided. (So long as they were adults, of course.) The plates were rehearsing their kickline. The pepper-shaker was nervously zipping around here, there, and everywhere, expecting to find something wrong.

Naminé had refused the suggestions that she should costume herself as some sort of kitchenware. At the last moment, as a concession of sorts, she tied a ribbon in her hair and changed into a pinafore, figuring she could pass for meta for Alice. That was a costume, wasn't it?

The Specials Board read:

WELCOME PARENTS, RELATIVES, AND FRIENDS!
PLEASE ENJOY A SUNDAY BRUNCH WITH US!

Café Fina was open.

Adam walked into the Cafe, turning to speak to Aisha. "The food is pretty good here, I've had it a couple of times."

Aisha nodded, looking around a bit at the waiters. "Interesting costumes," she said, grinning. "Definitely looks like a fun place."

Robin wasn't even that hungry, but it was a necessary diversion. Even if Barney had been right. "So. Anything interesting happening back home?"

Jessica had only a small hangover-- after all, she had a lot of experience in recovering from over-indulgence-- but was sticking to taking the bland food this morning, checking out the other tables to see if any other Sunnydale refugees were around.

Grace was in a wonderful mood. She and Turtle had handwavily spent the day at the spa yesterday. It was definitely enough to make her forget that horrid man in the red pajamas calling her bony.

She was picking at a plate of fruit and drinking a mimosa.

Jake, for his part, had a plate piled high with pancakes, eggs and hashbrowns.

Dawn sat down at a table against the wall, eating from a plate piled high with an intriguing assortment of foods that didn't really belong together.

She figured Buffy would find her way there eventually.

Luke was feeling at loose ends this morning, so he decided to drown the feeling in lots and lots of pancakes.

He found a seat in the corner of the restaurant and looked around for familiar faces.

Peter hadn't been around much over the weekend, preferring to let the craziness of Parents' Weekend go by without him, but the lure of excellent free food was enough that he found himself at Cafe Fina enjoying an overfilled plate.

Michael sat down with a newspaper and some food, checking to make sure that his family hadn't made national news while he was away for a weekend. It was looking good so far.

Robin hadn't been here before, but all she had to do was say the word "brunch" and she was leading the way to a table. "Mmm, booze before noon, how I have missed you."

After showing Riza the beach, it only seemed the right thing to do to feed her too. Which was why they headed down to Café Fina with the promise of coffee from the Perk afterwards.

When Jaina and Mara went back to the hotel to get Han after sparring this morning, he'd mentioned words like "cheerleading thing" and "not brunch too" and "no way in hell", so it was a pretty safe bet he wasn't showing up for the time being. Maybe later.

While Jaina was off fielding a call from one of her brothers, Mara was at the table on her own.
