The Beach, Wednesday Evening
After a day spent indoors doing things that would probably be described as 'plotty' in some areas of the world, Nathan... needed some fresh air.
And a glimpse of the water.
He stood on the beach, a little off from the more oft-frequented paths. Staring at the water. Letting details slot into place.
And maybe enjoying the sight of the waves. Just a little. But not too much.
There were things to be done. As always. He took a breath.
[ open like a beach generally is, although nate is here mostly for a certain bugging ]

Oh look! There he was!
"Nate." He nodded and plopped down on the sand and was quiet for a beat. "My hips don't look big, right?"

Of course.
He glanced sideways at Wade for a moment. Just the tiniest bit amused. "That's a mystery best left for someone else to answer."

"Well, one of my students said that red was a slimming color, but I wasn't sure."

There was a moment or so of silence as Nate simply stared out over the water, watching the tide come in. "You spoke to Irene?" he said, finally.

Riiiight.

He wasn't, though. He was Nate. "You told her--?"

It wasn't weird at all.

"And I think she just wanted to confirm that I am, in fact, married to a guy."

"Like gogurts."

He made a face. "I know I would."

"I have my reasons."

That was totally an answer.

Narrative was just a tool for him.
