Ching Tai, Thursday evening

He'd managed to survive class, so that was good. Also good was Peter's mood.

So it wasn't as though he needed cheering up, per se.

On the other hand - time spent with a nice, cute, blonde.

Twist his arm.

Peter waited outside the restaurant for his date.

[ooc: Peter is here for said date. Feel free to use for your other Chinese food needs.]

Melody had gone home after her day at the store and quickly changed into a low-cut pink dress and heels. But her mind was going a thousand places as she walked up to the restaurant; the guy in her store today really made her think.

She reminded herself to keep it together, that not focusing was rude, as she greeted Peter, aiming for a quick, light hug. "Hi!"

"Thank you," Melody said. "You too." In a whisper, she added, "I hope the clothes we're wearing don't get conceited because we said that."

"Good idea," Melody nodded. "Want to go in and order?"

Melody grinned. "You're such a gentleman!" she said, head high as she stepped through the door.

Inside, she darted over to the fish tank. "Ooh, look, koi. The big one looks lonely."

"Look how it's swimming all slow," Melody said. "And the lobster's walking away from it." She shook her head slowly. "Jealous."

"You might be right," Melody said. "The koi's prettier, so - " distracted, she glanced at a stage across the restaurant. "Do they have live music here?"

Melody screwed up her face as she took the seat. "Probably they would, but I wouldn't work here unless I knew the musicians," she said. "You don't want to end up working with somebody really weird or mean or zombies. No offense to the zombies at Caritas. Do you go there a lot?"

"Friends are so, so important," Melody said, flipping through her menu. "I really miss my best friends, but it was time to head out on my own, you know?"

"Home in Riverdale," Melody pouted. "Val went back to college and Josie's making a folk record with Alan M. That's her boyfriend."

"A little. But town is always interesting," Melody said. "Like, a few days ago I saw this groovy Partridge Fanmily cover band. Do you like Partridge family?"

Melody narrowed her eyes. "How old are you?" she asked. "I'm almost 22. Capricorn."

[identity profile] meetingsnoopy.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
"Me either!" Melody exclaimed, as if she hadn't just said that and it was a great coincidence. "But it'll be cool to have an age that's a palindrome."

[identity profile] meetingsnoopy.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
"If I did that I would just never get any older," Melody said, rapt. "I'd have too much fun saying how old I was."

[identity profile] meetingsnoopy.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
Melody giggled. "Maybe I could pass for 123 now," she said. "I look young because I'm young at heart."

[identity profile] meetingsnoopy.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Mmm-hmm," Melody agreed emphatically.

And drummed a little rhythm of the rim of her water glass with her chopsticks.

[identity profile] meetingsnoopy.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
"About five, six years," Melody said. "What about you, do you play music at all?"

[identity profile] meetingsnoopy.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
"Point," Melody allowed, summoning the waiter to order. "So if you stood next to the fish tank, would you be able to swim underwater? Because that would rock."

"You'd look silly with a shell," Melody decided.

And then she was back over at the fishtank, watching a snail creep up the back wall. "You can do it, snail!" she encouraged.
