Turtle & Canary; Tuesday [ 10/30 ]

The conversation with Charlie last night had left Turtle still terribly mopey as she came into work today, settling behind the counter with some work that she wasn't going to tocuh. She was too busy thinking, and thinking that maybe she just thought too much in general, but it wasn't like you could just tell yourself to stop thinking and it would work. She wondered if she should stop by the hotel today, or if she should just wait for radio tonight and hope that it wasn't a disaster. She was thinking it better not be a disaster because tomorrow was only quite possibly the best holiday in existence and there was no way she was going to be in a bad mood for it. None.

Pity Halloween didn't fall on Turtle's shift; he would have dressed like an apple.

You know you want to.

Johnny stopped by after he booked his room at the Arms. For some reason, seeing Turtle made him nervous. "Uh. I need some candy. For the kids tomorrow... while I'm at work."

"Picked a good day," Turtle said with a small smile. "One sale today; there's all sorts right over there," she nodded toward the display sporting all the different bags of miniature candy, as well as some other things that she just figured was best not to ask about because, well, she served a wide demographic here at Fandom and they did have everything.

And then, with a slight blink and a slight straightening, Turtle realized the benefit of working today when most people except the really bad procrastinators would get their candy. She could see what everyone was getting. And know who to avoid and who to possibly hit up multiple times if she could get away with it.

"Thanks," he said and ambled on over tot he display table. Raising his brows, Johnny grabbed all kinds of chocolate. Chocolate went over well and would hopefully draw attention to Photo Hut. And to him. His costume was awesome. He just hoped Leo wouldn't be too disturbed by it if he happened by.

Johnny piled it all on the counter when he was done. "You can't uh, like bill this to the Hut can you?"

Turtle tilted her head Johnny's way with a look of pure skepticism. "Oh, yeah. Bill it to the hippie who's not even here to confirm the purchase. If you had a business credit card or something, I could, but I know enough about my fellow business owners than to trust that Mister Leo would pay that back. He might have the intention to, sure, but then he'll forget."

"Fine. Maaan!" He pulled out his wallet and hopefully laid down enough cash to get some change back. "He would totally confirm it though, if he were here."

Turtle sighed a little at the reaction. There wasn't any need to get huffy about it. "Well, then I'm sure there won't be a problem in getting him to reimburse you for it, especially if you keep the receipt and, if he was smart, he could even just write it off in his taxes."

"I'm not sure Leo has enough brain cells left to manage that thought process let alone actually do it. Maybe I'll do it for him. Maybe I should become manager... " Johnny stared off into space for a second. "Naah, too much responsibility. So, you got plans for tomorrow?"

"It's Halloween!" Turtle said with a slight grin as if that should be enough to answer Johnny's question. "Of course I do. I mean, I gotta try to get as much out of the dressing up and scamming free candy thing as long as I can. I still have at least another year out of me before people start telling me I definitely have to stop."

"Hey, I'm dressing up. You totally need to stop by and see me tomorrow. As you can see, I'm gonna have lots of free candy."

"Then you'll definitely see me, yeah, especially since, I've got to admit, you picked out good candy."

"Hey Stock Guru." Billy smiled. "How's the market going?"

"Ugh," Turtle grunted; that wasn't exactly something that was going to make her day seem any better. "Don't ask."

Billy winced. "Eesh, sorry bout that. Would it make you feel better if a I bought a lot of candy?"

Turtle looked at Billy for a second like he'd asked the world's most obvious question because, really, it kind of was. "Of course it would. It's even twenty five percent off, you know."

Billy smirked. "Whatever I can do to brighten up your day."

AFK between 2 EST and 10;30 EST for work. Woe. But at least I can see today.
