Caritas - Tuesday Evening [Open]

Dick didn't like having to go outside when it was cold out. And cold for him was anything below 65 degrees. So today was like Antarctica-cold out for him. Needless to say he wasn't pleased when he had to come into work today.

He'll be behind the bar grumbling about the East Coast.

The zombies didn't mind the cold. Because they were dead.

Dick was wearing a thick Neptune Pirates sweatshirt with the hood drawn up. He might sound like that Kenny from South Park when he talked. Tino was also there for the modding.

Leo was wearing his usual clothes. His hair and beard kept his head warm, and besides, he was from Wisconsin. This was balmy weather.

"Hey, Leo." Dick said through his sweatshirt. "What can I get you?"

"Huh?" Leo had a hard time understanding Dick when he was closed up in his hood like that.

Dick made a "drinking" gesture with his hand. He hadn't warmed up enough to take off the sweatshirt yet.

"Oh." Leo nodded. "I'd like an irish coffee." Looking at Dick all bundled up was making Leo feel cold.

Dick gave Leo a thumbs up and went to go make his drink.

He came back a few minutes later with Leo's drink. Holding the coffee cup had warmed him up a little.

"Thanks Man. Is it cold in here?"

Dick nodded.

Leo shivered. "Man I should have worn a coat."

It was cold, but it wasn't that cold, or at least it wasn't cold enough that she could justify not going when she'd said she would. Ino entered the place and looked around curiously because she hadn't been in here before. Taking a seat at the bar, she eyed the band dubiously.

Okay. No one had mentioned musically inclined corpses to her. In terms of decor, the Devil's Nest was totally winning.

Dick untied the string to his sweatshirt hood so he could speak properly. "Can I get you something?"

"Something non-alcoholic, please?" Ino looked at him, "You're Annette's boyfriend, right?"

"That'd be me." Dick said, grabbing the stuff to make a Shirley Temple. It was Annette's drink of choice so he figured this chick would like it too.

"Yamanaka Ino." She propped her chin in one hand, watching him work, "She mentions you a lot and said I should introduce myself."

"Oh, I've heard about you on radio. You a friend of Annette's?" He finsihed making Ino's drink and added a cherry before sitting down in front of her.

"We're friends," she confirmed, smiling slightly, "we get along great."

"That's nice." he said. He wasn't entirely sure of what he could say to that. He figured what he said was a good answer.

Ino was trying to figure out the best way to get a grasp on his personality. "She also said you're cute, but I don't know..." Ino was totally teasing, "It's hard to tell with that hood on."

"If I wasn't so cold I'd show you." he said. "Just picture this face with floppy blonde hair."

She laughed, "It's not that cold."

"Dude, it's freezing." Dick said. He obviously couldn't remember back to when he first arrived in January and how cold it was then.

"It's chilly," Ino admitted, "But I don't think it's really all that bad and I come from a village in country that's named Fire Country. Where are you from?"

"California." Dick said. Fire Country? What the hell was that?

"I have no idea where that is." Ino told him, taking a sip of her drink and then looking at it dubiously. People liked this stuff? "My world's a lot different than this one."

"Oh, so you're from a different world. I feel less stupid about not knowing where the Fire Country is." Dick said. "California is a couple thousand miles west of here."

"And is always hot?" Ino asked with a smile, "My world's like this Feudal Japan, only with radio and TV. I've gotten used to not knowing about things here."

"Well, it's never cold there." he said. He thought living Feudal Japan would suck but he wasn't quite tactless enough to mention it.

"So you hide from the weather the moment it's less than perfect?" Ino said impishly, "Not very macho, that."

"I'm not hiding from the weather." he said, frowning. "I came to work, didn't I?"

"Of course you aren't." She nodded her head, "That's totally why you've still got a hood on even while inside."

Ino might have been trying to see how much of a reaction she could get out of him. Annette had said he was laid-back.

Dick wasn't as much laid-back as much as he was too lazy to argue. "It's perfectly normal to wear a hood inside."

"Whatever." Her tone making it clear that, that was the stupidest thing she'd heard all night. "It's not freezing."

"Well, that's your opinion." Dick said, trying to be nice. He didn't really like this chick.

The feeling was mutual. "You're just like Annette said," Ino wrinkled her nose, "talk about dull."

Because, yeah, Ino liked people who reacted to things.

"I'm less dull when the conversation is interesting." he said.

Was that a bit of snark? She thought it was. Ino looked pleased with herself. "That's better," she said approvingly, "keep that up and you might be worth knowing."

Annette could do better.

She slipped off the bar stool, "Nice meeting you." Not really. "See you around."

Wow. That chick was crazy. And he knew crazy. Look he was dating.

Kidding.

Snuggle up on a couch.

I actually have no idea what I'm talking about since the closest I've been to the West Coast is Louisiana. I'm a sheltered kid.

Whatever, Maryland rules. We've got crabs and Baltimore and...crabs.

Ooh! And I forgot to add Old Bay. You might think it has to do with crabs but it's just as good on French fries so it's different!
