Chad might have woken up feeling a little bit like death this morning, but he figured it wasn't a big deal. Probably ate some bad tomatoes or something. Wait. No such thing as a bad tomato, no matter what anyone said. But, really, he was good for work. It wasn't like he was going to do much, just maybe a little bit of...

Okay, maybe Chad wasn't going to do anything besides slumping a little bit over the counter with the occasional grunt. As the day wore on, he was starting to think that just not moving was going to be the best way to go.

Today's music: Something really, really quiet.

He looks pale; possibly a little green. Probably not a good sign.

Green? So not Chad's color.

And it wasn't even Skrull green.

"You feeling okay?"

That grunt was Chad's attempt to answer that, yeah, he was feeling just fine, but he probably didn't accomplish this all too well, even he had to admit that.

Teddy just raised an eyebrow and reached to feel Chad's forehead. "You look like death warmed over, Grunty."

Chad ducked his head down to make the reach a little easier for Teddy, being compliant with the check while insisting, "I do not."

"Yes you do," Teddy replied with a frown. "I think you have a fever."

"Probably just a bug," Chad said, with the sort of thoughtful frown that showed that he might be worried that it wasn't. Or that he was feeling another wave of nausea. He hadn't even eaten anything today, so how could he be feeling like ralphing?

Teddy didn't look particularly happy about that. "Maybe we should stop by the clinic for medicine."

"Or," Chad suggested with a small nod of his head, "I could sleep it off and be better tomorrow."

"Or," Teddy shot back. "You could humor your boyfriend and go to the clinic."

Chad's frown was a little desperate, shoulders drooping. "...Ted..."

"One really quick trip, just to get some medicine!" Teddy said, trying the puppy eyes for this. "And then you can spend the rest of the sickness in my room."

"But in able to get medicine," Chad argued in a miserable tone, "you gotta get examined to get the right medicine. And I'm..."

That would be Chad, turning his head away as he started a small series of coughs that escalated into making his chest burn and his conclusion to the statement a few moments later coming out hoarse and lacking breath. "...fine."

Teddy just gave him a look. "Yeah, I can tell."

Chad slumped miserably, not even carefully, on the counter with a deep frown and a look of surprisingly resignation. "Fine, I feel like crap," he muttered, realizing that he felt like crap enough that he didn't want to waste his time arguing because it would only make his head feel worse. "But not bad enough for the clinic. I was good enough to come to work; I'll be fine..."

The last bit might have been a bit chocked, from trying to avoid another coughing fit. He very liberally applied more of the antibacterialstuff to his hands.

"I can carry your ass there," Teddy said. "If you're going to be difficult about this."

"I'll probably end up throwing up on you," Chad pointed out, mostly because it was true and it was important that Teddy knew the consequences of his actions. Because he knew that, if Teddy tried, he wouldn't have it in him to refuse, not with how he was feeling.

"Which is all the more reason to go to the clinic."

"I'll be fine, Teddy. You know how I am with the clinic, and it's not necessary. I'll go home early and sleep it off, okay? Compromise?"

Teddy continued to give him a look. It was such a mom look.

"What?" Chad grunted. "Nothin's broken; it's just a cold. It'll be gone tomorrow."

Being sick made Chad a little grumpy, otherwise he wouldn't have muttered what he did next. "Jus' 'cause I'm human doesn't mean I'm that weak. Jus' a cold."

Teddy looked down uncomfortably at the human comment. "That's not why I'm worried."

And Chad regretted opening his mouth the moment he saw that look on Teddy's face. He grunted, rubbing his pounding head. It was enough to make him feel like it was just worth arguing, really. "S'it really that important to you that I go?"

"Please?" Teddy begged. "We can wait for Katara's shift if you want, and if she thinks you're fine, we can go to the dorms."

Chad grunted. "Okay," he said, "but only 'cause Katara's working tonight..."

Teddy rushed forward to give him a quick hug. "Thank you."

There was another grunt and a slight increase of the colour in Chad's face as he was being squeezed, however quick or even light. "Ugh, Ted. Hug bad..."

Avoid him all you want, but you'll still have to cash out with him. He's keeping very close to that hand sanitizer, though, because the Chad cares.

Odd day for me today, with lots of stuff going on (job hunting, lunches, work) so SP is love.
