Trooper Station, Monday

After she had been handwavily shown where the station was, Renee had no trouble finding it again today.

Of course, this also meant she'd have to do something with her desk.

She sighed and started shifting through paperwork instead. Nice and distracting.

[[Ooooopeeeeen!]]

Dale entered doing his usual chatter with his electronic memo pad.

"Diane, it is 9:05 AM, Monday, November 19th 2007. 42 degreed outside with a slight chance of rain if you are to believe the weather report. Had two cups of coffee at the perk before getting a dozen donuts at J'GOBs. Yes, I know that many would consider that to be a waste of time but I find that Jeff's seems to be more on the ball when it comes to pastries."

Dale looked like he was about to babble onward when he noticed the new member of the station at her desk. "Excuse me Diane, but I'll have to get back to you on that later as I must greet our new member to the police force."

He clicked off his recorder and immediately thrust his hand out toward Renee.

"Detective Montoya? Special Agent Dale Cooper. Welcome aboard."

"I have to say it's nice to have another person here who doesn't wear white armor," Dale said with a grin before noticing that one of the troopers glared at him as he caught part of the conversation. "Not that there's anything wrong with that. What brings you to Fandom, Detective?"

"I'm still trying to figure that one out," Dale replied. "I was in the process of trying to apprehend a killer and I woke up in the forest not too far from here. Still haven't found a way back yet but the sheriff was kind enough to offer me a job."

No psychopaths running around yet. Unless you counted Deadpool. Maybe there'll be more next week.

If there was an awkward pause after Renee's last answer, Dale seemed to take it in stride as he produced the box of donuts fro J'GOBs.

"Donut? It's from our local bakery. Best thing next to heaven itself."

Ahh. Spontaneous confessions. They make the world go round.

"If you think that's good? You'll need to check the local coffee house as well. And if you'll excuse the language, it's the best damn cup of coffee you'll ever have."

[identity profile] pieandcoffee.livejournal.com 2007-11-19 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"Be happy to do so," Dale agreed. "Have you found a place to stay yet?"

"Well the MCA can't be beat," Dale replied as he helped himself to a donut. "Clean place. Reasonable price. Though I believe there are some decent houses available if you prefer long term equity. I assume the sheriff has given you the low down on our community's... shall we say unique characteristics?"

Dale cocked his head to the side. "Does that mean you don't believe him or you've dealt with stranger things?"

[identity profile] pieandcoffee.livejournal.com 2007-11-20 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh?" Dale said looking keenly interested. "Exactly how weird?"

Dale might be a tad eager looking. Like a kid waiting to hear his favorite story.

[identity profile] pieandcoffee.livejournal.com 2007-11-20 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Ahhh," Dale said with an understanding look. "Then you should feel right at home here. Personally I've found the last six months to be absolutely fascinating."

[identity profile] pieandcoffee.livejournal.com 2007-11-20 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
"It's the fact that anything here is completely possible," Dale said with a thrilled look. "And while tragedy does occur I don't regret appearing here in the least. In some ways it's a lot like a small town I used to work in before I came here."

[identity profile] pieandcoffee.livejournal.com 2007-11-20 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
"A small town in the Pacific Northwest called Twin Peaks," Dale replied. "Two girls, one murdered and one tortured were found. One across the state line. The FBI was called and I was the one sent it. On first look it was a quaint small town but once you peeled back the layers it became something else entirely."

[identity profile] pieandcoffee.livejournal.com 2007-11-20 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes and no," Dale said with a grim look. "Depending on your belief in the supernatural or spirit world."

[identity profile] pieandcoffee.livejournal.com 2007-11-20 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
"No," Dale replied shortly. "Not at all. And he... it may never get what he truly deserves."

[identity profile] pieandcoffee.livejournal.com 2007-11-20 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
Dale's grin quickly returned to his face. "Depends on your shifts. Tomorrow work for you?"

[identity profile] pieandcoffee.livejournal.com 2007-11-20 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
"Excellent," Dale said thumping his fist lightly on the desk. "I'll give you directions and meet you there early."
