Robin hadn't set up for a birthday party since she'd started this job, and she wondered if she should have brought a gift. Maybe booze could be her gift? It was what she would have brought, anyway.

In any case, Robin was there, everything was set up for Xander's birthday party, and she was just going to hide behind the bar.

"You mean the ones who think I'm cuter?" Anders was having a hard time keeping the amused grin off his face, because this was honestly more fun than anything else for him. "Why would that hurt my ego?"

Same for Marco. He knew he was cuter. Though his mun disagreed. "No no no no, those are the girls who need to renew their glasses prescription. You're mixing up categories."

"I'm completely clear on the whole thing, thanks," Anders retorted, and a bit of the amused grin crept across his face. "Besides, if I add in the guys who think I'm cuter, I win."

Given that his trump card in this category was across the country and he wasn't actually sure he could get his ex to back him up on this, Anders wasn't too confident of winning by a landslide in the guy demographic either. "Sure, dude. Never said you couldn't!"

". . . you turn into a vending machine," Anders repeated. Not disbelievingly -- he'd been in Fandom too long for that. Maybe slightly gobsmacked, because that was a new one, but he totally believed it. "Yeah, most of them do it randomly and by accident, because they're not crazy and deluded into thinking they're cuter than me."
