Turtle & Canary; Saturday [ 12/01 ]

"Holy crap," Turtle realized with a frown as she settled in behind the counter with her laptop to get to work, "it's December. When did that happen?"

That almost meant the holidays.

Awesome.

Today's Squishy flavors: Peppermint, Gingerbread, Grape Judas

Turtle & Canary is open.

The door slammed open as Cassandra sprinted into the store and turned sharply to cut around some shelves. She darted a quick glance over her shoulder to see if she was still being pursued (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhighdorms/1268367.html?thread=105305487#t105305487).

Oh lord, not Turtle's store.

Anemone wibbled for a moment before deciding that Bart would firmly be in favor of this game, and ran into the shop, eyes peeled for Cassandra. And Turtle. Must not annoy Turtle.

It was perhaps very fortunate that Turtle didn't seem to be in the main store at the moment. Could it be that they were lucky enough to come in while Turtle was networking (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/2315927.html?thread=104728215#t104728215)?

That slight hesitation had given Cassandra just enough time to hid behind the Squishy machine. The hiding might have been ever-so-slightly spoiled by the occasional snicker.

Anemone was rather sure that Turtle would not snicker like that. In fact, she was sure Apu didn't, because he was too busy glaring.

Sucker.

"Hey mister, have you seen a girl come in here?" Anemone asked sweetly, leaning over the counter to turn up his totally modded radio before taking her time to stalk carefully up and down the aisles. There was no reason to give away that she had heard Cassandra, and hopefully the music would mask her own footsteps.

It was a good plan. A very good plan. Cassandra kept snickering, but the music was too loud for that to be heard. Of course the radio was a pretty good ploy, and Cassandra was trying to guess how much time she had before Anemone found her.

That all went out the window when Apu, in a very loud voice, asked, "You mean the one behind the Squishy machine?"

Oh hells. Anemone had been inching around the Squishy machine towards her prey. Stupid boy. Turtle needed better quality help.

Abandoning any pretense of stealth, she sprung forward to try and tag Cassandra.

Cassandra stopped trying to keep her snickers quiet and pushed off the Squishy machine to make an attempt at leaping over Apu onto one of the nearby shelves.

Instead of leaping after Cassandra, Anemone jumped onto the counter, pacing along it and keeping her eyes locked on her target. "Surrender!"

"Never," Cassandra laughed. Now her enemy was between herself and her line of exit.

Perhaps this wasn't the best plan ever.

Anemone was trained to hunt above all else, and she carefully eased atop a shelving unit closer to the door, ignoring Apu's screams of rage.

Oh, look, ammunition. Grabbing a handful of gum packs, Anemone started firing at her target.

Oh... if that's the way Anemone wanted to play it...

Cassandra dashed back to the Squishy machine for a Peppermint Squishy which she promptly, and messily, lobbed toward Anemone before making a wild dash for the door.

Was she...oh bother.

Anemone jumped down behind the rack she had been perched on, staying mostly-dry except for the Squishy now dripping in her hair. Sometimes having long hair was a pain.

"Revenge will be mine!" Anemone reached out to tag Cassandra, grinning evilly. "I'll give you Squishy cooties!"

Cassandra had underestimated her opponent and the Squishy attack hadn't been quite fast enough. Anemone's fingers brushed across Cassandra's back which necessitated a sudden stop to change direction and tag her back. This maneuver was aided by a display stand to conveniently crash into. Of course while this stopped Cassandra's forward momentum, it also put her on the ground surrounded by sunglasses. Laughing.

Anemone flailed wildly, trying to avoid landing on Cassandra, or on any of the sunglasses. "Ack!"

Really that was a perfect opportunity to tag Anemone, but Cassandra's training kicked in: position first, then attack. She kicked her feet off of one of the nearby shelves (topping various items to the floor) and slid out of Anemone's path.

She immediately regretted doing that because suddenly the only thing between a flailing Anemone and the door were scattered sunglasses and their fallen stand. Cassandra was already scrambling to her feet, hoping that she could get back in motion before the other girl escaped the store.

That's when Anemone's training kicked in: choose your battlefield.

Laughing wildly, she spun and fled out the door, headed for the park (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/2315927.html?thread=104769175#t104769175), with its playground of trees.

Hopefully Cassandra wasn't capable of hitting her with a tree. That might hurt more than the punching bag.

The sound of Cassandra's feet slamming into the ground as she sprinted after Anemone were drowned out by her laughter.
