Monthly Market- The Park, Saturday daytime

D'Argo guessed this was his first official... thing, or whatever, to do as mayor, and he was really glad that it was easy. He got to point as workers set up booths and say things like "Right over there" and "You're doing a fine job!" He could get used to this.

By the time everything was set up, there were booths for all the vendors, along with one or two for people to stop and get something to eat or drink. Usually hot, due to it being December.

The 'December' part was also why D'Argo was camped out under one of the heat lamps.

[Wait for OCD! Go play!]

Kirk was set up with a large pizza box behind him. In front of him, a hand-made sign on posterboard.

Kirk's Pizza Delivery

Be the first person to order the
largest pizza in Virginia.
Probably.

Turtle, of course, decided to take a slight break from work to venture down to the part and do a wee bit of (hopefully) potential networking.

Annette stopped by, just to you know, check things out.

Re: Booth: Mr. Hong's Oriental-Style Fish

Well, this town was certainly far too small to be Ankh-Morpork. Mr. Hong had half a mind to write a VERY stern note to that Trob merchant who carried him here, if he ever saw him again. Still, everyone seemed to be speaking Morporkian, so he was probably close. Pity he hadn't learned more than a few words of it before he left home.

There was a market going on, and a booth with his name on, which was fortunate, because he was down to his last rhinu, and he needed money. Time to show the people on this side of the sea what authentic Agatean cooking was all about! Smiling, he set up his cookware and set out his fish, vegetables, and spices.

The Three Jolly Luck Take-Away Fish Stall was open.

Taking a look at the sign, Turtle tilted her head. "What would be the reason for wanting the largest pizza in Virginia?" she asked, thoughtfully, from a business perspective. "I mean, what's your support for the gimmick? I think if I ordered the largest pizza in Virginia, I'd just feel like a total pig."

"A sense of accomplishment," Kirk said. "You'll have probably ordered a pizza larger than anyone has ever ordered in the history of Virginia. Then you could throw a party to celebrate that and food will already be provided."

"And then someone strives to make a larger pizza," Turtle pointed out, "and you just realize that your accomplishment was nothing but a flash in the pan, and then you're stuck with indigestion from more than just too much pizza."

"It's the thrill of competition. You could be the Carl Lewis of giant pizza buyers," Kirk argued. "And if somebody ever takes your record, you just get back onto the track and go for the new record in another four years."

Turtle nodded a little in approval of the competitive approach, but one question still remained.

"Who's Carl Lewis?"

Turtle gave Annette a little bit of a wave when she spotted the other girl; they hadn't really talked in a while. Not that Turtle minded of course, but it was nice to see her.

"Hi, Turtle," Annette said, grinning a bit. They hadn't talked for awhile so saying hi was really no big deal. "What's up?"

Re: Arrive!

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2007-12-01 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not much," Turtle said, shrugging a shoulder. "Networking. How've you been?"

Re: Booth: Kirk's Pizza Delivery

[identity profile] humankirk.livejournal.com 2007-12-01 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"Children," Kirk said, shaking his head sadly. "He was an Olympic track and field star. He also raced a zebra on TV one time. The zebra won, but I think he was on steroids."

Re: Arrive!

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-12-01 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"Networking?" she lifted her brow in question then gave Turtle a one-shouldered shrug. "That question would take too long to answer."

Re: Booth: Kirk's Pizza Delivery

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2007-12-01 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Turtle blinked a little.

Okay, a lot. "He really raced a zebra? What were the odds on a match like that? I bet everyone would have put their money on the zebra, steroids or no."

Re: Arrive!

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2007-12-01 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, networking. I haven't had the chance to make it to this thing before, but with all the people coming in, it's a great way to get my name around a bit. That's very important, you know, although time is money, because I'm stuck working Saturdays again. So busy." She shook her head, although she wasn't at all perturbed by her full plate. She loved it like that.

Markets were good! All kinds of good things came from markets -- ancient waterbending scrolls, really chic green bags, food... Sokka was so there.

Sokka's mouth was already watering.

"Largest pizza? Really? How much?"
