Monthly Market- The Park, Saturday daytime

D'Argo guessed this was his first official... thing, or whatever, to do as mayor, and he was really glad that it was easy. He got to point as workers set up booths and say things like "Right over there" and "You're doing a fine job!" He could get used to this.

By the time everything was set up, there were booths for all the vendors, along with one or two for people to stop and get something to eat or drink. Usually hot, due to it being December.

The 'December' part was also why D'Argo was camped out under one of the heat lamps.

[Wait for OCD! Go play!]

Turtle, of course, decided to take a slight break from work to venture down to the part and do a wee bit of (hopefully) potential networking.

Annette stopped by, just to you know, check things out.

Turtle gave Annette a little bit of a wave when she spotted the other girl; they hadn't really talked in a while. Not that Turtle minded of course, but it was nice to see her.

Markets were good! All kinds of good things came from markets -- ancient waterbending scrolls, really chic green bags, food... Sokka was so there.

It wasn't so much that Anemone arrived as that she was being chased. (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/2315721.html?view=104857033#t104857033) By a demented little she-demon of Tag.

Wait. Shiny. "Ooooo! Shopping!" Anemone stopped dead, eyes going wide as she took in the scene around her.

Completely forgetting about the person behind her. Whoops.

Whoops indeed. Cassandra hadn't expected the sudden stop, so she ended up careening into her target at top speed sending them both to the ground in a tangle of limbs.

Re: Booth: Mr. Hong's Oriental-Style Fish

[identity profile] whatever-sucks.livejournal.com 2007-12-01 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, this town was certainly far too small to be Ankh-Morpork. Mr. Hong had half a mind to write a VERY stern note to that Trob merchant who carried him here, if he ever saw him again. Still, everyone seemed to be speaking Morporkian, so he was probably close. Pity he hadn't learned more than a few words of it before he left home.

There was a market going on, and a booth with his name on, which was fortunate, because he was down to his last rhinu, and he needed money. Time to show the people on this side of the sea what authentic Agatean cooking was all about! Smiling, he set up his cookware and set out his fish, vegetables, and spices.

The Three Jolly Luck Take-Away Fish Stall was open.

Annette stepped up to the booth and glanced down at the fish and vegetables, wondering how fresh they were.

"Food!" Barbossa said joyfully.

It didn't take much to make him happy.

"Oh! Is this one of those get ups where you get to watch the chef make the food in front of you?" Turtle asked, checking out the get-up and politely trying to ignore the fishy smell.

Or from making horrible puns about something fishy about this whole thing.

Re: Booth: Mr. Hong's Oriental-Style Fish

[identity profile] whatever-sucks.livejournal.com 2007-12-02 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Later in the afternoon, Mr. Hong settled in to make some food for himself. Naturally, he'd kept the best bits -- the most delicious meat, the most exotic spices -- for himself. He still wasn't entirely sure where he was, but he was starting to like it here, and he hummed to himself as he pulled out a few choice young squid, sliced them up, and added them to the wok.

Unfortunately, the booth he was using had been constructed on a sacred squid burial ground, and the collective psychic force of the spirits of a thousand dead cephalopods screaming in rage sent him reeling. An inky black mist gathered, and then the booth exploded.

The wok rolled out of the flaming wreckage of the booth and clattered to the ground. There was no sign of Mr. Hong.

There are many kinds of tea there and the portly gentleman with the big grin on his face will be happy to tell you about them.

However the words "Earl Grey" mean nothing to him

Sokka's jaw dropped. "What are YOU doing here???"

Re: Booth: Tea.

[identity profile] thebluespirit.livejournal.com 2007-12-01 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
This day was going really, really slowly and Zuko tried to hang at the back of the booth, hoping no one would notice him.

"Tea sure does seem to be a hot draw these days," Turtle observed idly as she made her way toward this booth.

Re: Booth: The Arms Hotel

Mary and the sous chef were busy setting up trays of delicious-looking pastries and tea sandwiches, as well as tea, hot chocolate and coffee. Gunther was off to the side, grumbling that his afternoon tea was best served on fine china in the hotel lobby. No one was really listening to him.
