Monthly Market- The Park, Saturday daytime

D'Argo guessed this was his first official... thing, or whatever, to do as mayor, and he was really glad that it was easy. He got to point as workers set up booths and say things like "Right over there" and "You're doing a fine job!" He could get used to this.

By the time everything was set up, there were booths for all the vendors, along with one or two for people to stop and get something to eat or drink. Usually hot, due to it being December.

The 'December' part was also why D'Argo was camped out under one of the heat lamps.

[Wait for OCD! Go play!]

There are many kinds of tea there and the portly gentleman with the big grin on his face will be happy to tell you about them.

However the words "Earl Grey" mean nothing to him

Sokka's jaw dropped. "What are YOU doing here???"

"I'm serving and selling tea," Iroh replied with a small smirk. "Would you like to have a cup?"

This day was going really, really slowly and Zuko tried to hang at the back of the booth, hoping no one would notice him.

"Tea sure does seem to be a hot draw these days," Turtle observed idly as she made her way toward this booth.

"Hot draw!" Iroh laughed. "Good joke. Would you like a cup?"

It was a little impossible for Turtle not to grin a little to know that her unintended humor was appreciated. "Sure! Can't be any worse than coffee."

Iroh chuckled again as he began warming a kettle to the proper temperature. "Like coffee, the quality of the tea all depends on the quality of the ingredients, the brewing method, the brewer and the drinker."

He studied Turtle carefully for a moment. "I believe the best tea for you would be ginseng. Would you like to try a cup?"

"I'm willing to give anything a try," Turtle nodded again, "so of course!"

"An adventurous spirit!" Iroh proclaimed as he set out a cup and began to brew some tea. "Always something to be treasured. Are you a student here at the school?"

Turtle nodded. "Yup. The name's Wexler. T.R. Wexler. I also co-own a store here on the island."

And, deftly, expertly, she produced for the tea guy a business card.

Anathema was attracted to the booth like the good British girl she was. "What kind of tea are you selling?"

Re: Booth: Tea.

[identity profile] paisho-master.livejournal.com 2007-12-02 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
"Tea from many parts of my world," Iroh replied with a slight bow. "Including jasmine, ginseng, oolong and black tea as well as many variants."

Re: Booth: Tea.

[identity profile] practicaldevice.livejournal.com 2007-12-02 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
"Can I try some of the jasmine?" Anathema leaned over to see better.

"Certainly," he replied and waved the young lady to an open seat as he heated the water to the proper temperature and poured it into a cup. "Your accent is somewhat different than the other young people here." he noted.

Anathema sat down, studying the various teas. "I'm from England, most everyone else is American." She explained. A little snobby? Who? Her?

[identity profile] paisho-master.livejournal.com 2007-12-02 02:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ah, I see," Iroh said in an understanding tone.

Which of course meant he understood nothing. However that did not stop him from brewing the Jasmine tea and then presenting it to the young lady in a cup on a saucer, while bowing slightly.

Anathema took a sip an made an appropriate noise of appreciation. "How much are you costs?"

Mohinder wasn't really sure what had drawn him to the tea booth. Nostalgia, perhaps?

Still, he eyed the displayed teas. "How do you find your spiced blends?"

Re: Booth: Tea.

[identity profile] paisho-master.livejournal.com 2007-12-02 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
"All our teas come from the Earth kingdom," Iroh explained as he brewed a cup for himself. "Is there a particular kind you are looking for?"

Re: Booth: Tea.

[identity profile] offthelisthero.livejournal.com 2007-12-02 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm looking for something particularly refreshing," Mohinder shrugged, "But I don't think I'm familiar with what you have here."

Re: Booth: Tea.

[identity profile] paisho-master.livejournal.com 2007-12-02 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ahhh! Perhaps you would be interested in the tea made from the leaves of the White Dragon Bush," Iroh suggested as he pulled out a bag from his special stock. "Its leaves make a tea so delicious it’s heartbreaking! Unfortunately it can also be confused with the White Jade bush which is very poisonous but my supplier assures me this batch is poison free."

Re: Booth: Tea.

[identity profile] offthelisthero.livejournal.com 2007-12-02 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Mohinder eyed the bag with interest and just a little apprehension. "I do hope that was a personal guarantee."

Re: Booth: Tea.

[identity profile] paisho-master.livejournal.com 2007-12-02 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hmmm. I do not remember that word being used," Iroh replied as he looked at the bag with skepticism. "Most troublesome. Perhaps some ginseng tea would be more appropriate."

Iroh was still wistfully looking at the other bag though.
