Luke's Diner; Sunday [ 12/02 ]

A.J. wasn't exactly in the best of moods after yet another fallout with Annette, so most of his concentration went into his project for the specials board today. Which included filling it entirely with different colored squares of all the same size, spanning from one end to the other.

Luke's is open.

River had gone for a long Sunday walk, and stopping by to Luke's Diner meant the need for food could be combined with a chat with A.J. She quickly noted that perhaps he wasn't in the mood for talking, but at least she could try to cheer him up.

"Has the crap taken to flying yet?" she asked.

She got an image of it from his mind and nodded. "Good. What food do you recommend today?" She returned the smile, although hers was a happier one.

"Vanilla milkshake," she said after a moment's thought. "And fries. Talking about what's on your mind is an option if you want to." And of course not talking was equally an option, but that should be obvious.

"Better subject. I rearranged furniture." She grinned at A.J. "I like the squares."

Beauty hadn't been doing much of anything for the past week bad mun!, and she realized when Sunday rolled around that she hadn't seen A.J. in way too long. Especially considering what she'd heard hinted at on the radio last night.

So she hurried down to the diner, slowing her steps when she came through the door, and coming quietly up to the counter. "A.J.?" she said softly, not sure if he was immersed in the art thing he was doing to the point where he didn't want to be disturbed.

[ooc: Probable bouts of SP today, as I'm multitasking like mad. :/]

Oh, that greeting didn't do anything to alleviate Beauty's worries. She tried to give A.J. a cheerful smile and mostly wound up looking like she was trying way too hard.

"I haven't seen you in...way too long, so I wanted to come and say hi..." she began, then her voice trailed off and she eyed the counter. "May I come around behind for a minute?"

Beauty nodded, and walked around to the back of the counter. She went straight up to A.J. and put her arms around his neck.

"You seemed like you could use it," Beauty answered softly, making no move to pull away. "I heard that you and Annette had an argument, and...well, you just looked so sad."

Chris and Lana found a table in the corner.

Chris glanced at the specials board and shook his head, instead picking up the menu.

"Is it too late for breakfast?" he asked Lana.

"I don't think so," Lana said. "Sunday brunch... You should be able to get whatever you'd like."

"Good, cause I'm really in the mood for eggs," Chris said. "Although... a burger might be good, too."

"Mmmm..." Lana said, looking at the menu. "I have no idea what I want. Maybe the pancakes?"

"Pancakes are good," he agreed.

"You'd think anything I wanted to eat was good," Lana said with a grin. "But I think, yes, pancakes with bacon."

Chris grinned back. "I can't decide between breakfast or a burger. Maybe both."
