Anders was wearing a suit tonight when he opened the bar -- no reason ~~except Marco-mun loves the icon~~.

He could swear Tino and the band were giving him strange, strange looks for it.

"What?" he asked. "Am I not pretty enough?"

Is my heart too broken?

With George Michael leaving for his trip home, Mary was at the bar trying to keep herself distracted. "Nice suit," she said, looking at Anders. "What's the occasion?"

"No occasion," Anders replied, with a bright grin for her. "Just felt like it. Random dress-up urge. Kinda girly of me. Um, no offense."

"None taken," said Mary, smiling back. "I'll take a Shirley Temple tonight. I'm sure you've seen how to make that one."

"I've seen a few different varieties, yeah," Anders replied as he grabbed the right size glass. "Ginger ale or 7-Up, with or without orange juice, with or without the slice of lemon, but always with the grenadine and cherry. What's your combo?"

He'd totally been doing his homework.

Mary was impressed. "I'll go with the classic version. 7-Up, grenadine and cherry, hold the orange juice and lemon."

Anders gave her a lighthearted salute. "I do what the lady asks," he said cheerfully, and mixed the drink. It was a fairly straightforward process, no Tom Cruise-style flair, but he did toss the cherry up over his shoulder before catching it in the glass. "Always thought the orange juice and lemon sounded a little too weird for me," he told Mary as he handed over the Shirley Temple.

"Same with using ginger ale. I prefer drinking ginger ale straight up, not adding grenadine to it," said Mary, sipping her drink. It was hard to imagine that she was discussing Shirley Temples the way she would have discussed making the perfect martini a year ago.

"Something we have in common," Anders declared, and deciding that sounded like a good idea, he poured himself a glass of ginger ale on the rocks.

The soda gun never got less fun to use, really.

"We need to have a toast," suggested Mary, raising her glass.

Anders laughed and raised his own. "To the purity of ginger ale?" he offered.

"And to my boyfriend finally getting his divorce," added Mary. "Cheers!"

It wasn't like Anders exactly had the world's most normal relationship himself, but that turn of phrase still made him double-take for a second. Just a second, though; he figured she wouldn't be cheerful about it if it was a bad thing. Right?

"Cheers," he echoed heartily, and went to clink his glass against hers.

Do I cry too much?

Am I too outspoken?

I was listening to Kasey Chambers in the car. I'm sorry.
