Turtle & Canary; Thursday [ 12/13 ]

Turtle had spent the first half hour of her shift after opening cleaning up the place. Apparently (confirmed when she went through the security dog's video footage) there had been an incident considering one Liz and one squirrel and the results were the mess she opened up to today. Holiday decorations back up with only minimal glitter spillage, Turtle made sure the "Now Hiring" sign was still in place and went back behind the counter.

Today's Squishy flavors: Gum, Mint, Grape Judas

Turtle & Canary is open.

Turtle still can't understand how he couldn't heave heard this happening in his apartment above the store. He had such a pay dock coming.

Sokka poked poked thoughtfully at the "Now Hiring" sign as he sipped at his Mint Squishy and dug cash out of his pocket to pay for it. Without Moist, the post office was... well, less spiffy.

"...Are you still hiring?" he eventually asked Turtle.

Clever, yes, but brilliant he ain't.

"No," Turtle, who had been watching Sokka poke the sign, deadpanned. "I just keep that there because it's pretty."

"Ha. Ha." Sokka raised an eyebrow. "That's too bad, because I would have been the best employee ever."

"Ever, huh?" Turtle smirked a bit lopsidedly, leaning forward challengingly. "Excuse me a moment while I go over there and laugh my tail off."

"Oh, you can laugh," Sokka retored. "Go ahead and laugh. But you don't have a tail."

Yes, he thought this was somehow witty.

Turtle melted the rolling of her eyes into a snap of her fingers. "Well, geez," she muttered in an overly dramatic disappointment. "I guess you got me there."

"Yes, I do," Sokka confirmed. "But seriously, it's your lucky day. Your employee needs are over -- I am 100% minion-able."

"Minion-able, huh?" Turtle asked, thinking those words sounded pretty influential, although she maintained a doubtful look on her face. She took a moment to consider the offer, looking Sokka over and trying to decide if an extra day off a week was worth potential damage to her psyche over having Sokka employed. She could give him Thursdays; no one ever came in on Thursdays, and he was here already on a Thursday. Thursday could be safe.

"...How do Thursdays sound?"

"They sound good to me!" Sokka answered with a grin. "Hey... today's Thursday. Want me to take over for you?"

...He decided to put off asking about free Squishies any "perks" free Squishies until after his employment was a little more secure.

"Well," Turtle said after a thoughtful look and a suspicious glint in her eyes, "what we could do, if you're not busy and since I'm here and you're here so we might as well, is I could do your training today, show you the ropes and go over the expectations."

"I expect," Sokka replied with a grin, "to have no problems learning the ropes. Let's do this."

Turtle nodded, grateful to see some determination. "Okay, hold on a second; there will be some paperwork for you to fill out."

'Some,' apparently, in Turtle's world, meant the armful of a packet she returned with a moment later, plopping it down on the counter.

Sokka stared at the packet, shrugged, sighed, and settled in to fill it out.

Work from 11 to 7 EST. blah. But only t wo more days leeeeft.
