Yes, there was still yellow on A.J.'s cheek. It had nothing to do with the stubbornness of paint, though; mostly, it was because he had simply slept in a little too late today and didn't have the time to try to get a good deal of it off properly before he had to leave for work. He'd gotten most of it; just not all.

Maybe no one will notice.

Late afternoon, Johnny came in wanting a burger and fries. Quirking a brow at A.J., he said, "Paint. On your cheek dude."

"Yeah, I know," A.J. said, the slightest hint of a wry grin on his face. "It's my new tattoo; what do you think?"

"What? Don't think it suits me?"

A.J. grinned a little. "Ino did it; last night. Got in a paint fight and I haven't been able to get it all off. But, if this is any indication, she's got herself a new hairstyle, so I can't complain over just this."

"Makes me think of mustard," Johnny grinned. "But then I am in a diner."

He laughed at A.J.'s explanation. "Been a while since I've been in any kind of paint fight. She's a feisty little thing; can't see her appreciating it. What'd you do?"

"Only what she should have one-hundred percent absolutely no-question-about-it seen coming," A.J. stated, straightening his shoulders confidently. "Blue paint, all over her face. And then I guess that wasn't enough for her, because that's when the yellow got on mine so I figured, hey. Ino has nice blue eyes. She should have blue hair to bring them out. And viola."

There was a slight pause, his grin turning a little apprehensive as his hands went into his pockets. "Yeah, I think I might try to avoid her for, oh, about an eternity or two after that."

Yeah, he was still laughing. "What I wouldn't give to see her now. Better just prepare yourself for her ranting and raving and stomping on in here sometime today. Paybacks can sure be a bitch."

Blue hair. Oh man.

"But paint fights? Totally awesome!"

"Couldn't possibly be worse than the tiff we got into the other night," A.J. said, biting his lip with a slightly wide-eyed expression, "but as long as it is just ranting and raving and stomping on, I'll be okay. Because Ino could probably kick my ass in two seconds straight. I still stand by the fact that she deserved it, though. And she knew it was coming, so she can't really be mad."

"She tried to kick my ass once," Johnny said proudly. "Couldn't quite match the fire if you know what I'm saying. And you two had a tiff? Ino's got a mouth on her, what'd you do to her?" Because Johnny just assumed it was usually always the guys fault.

"Annoyed her?" A.J. offered, with an air of annoyed uncertainty. "I don't know; it's complicated. She's mad at me about something that doesn't even involve her, but you know how girls can be sometimes...."

He really, really hoped Johnny did know, because, ugh, he really didn't want to get into this whole thing again.

Ino showed up way, way late in the afternoon. Yes, her hair was still blue. No, she wasn't that happy about it. If pressed she'd admit that he had given her plenty of warning though.

"Tell me how to fix this," Ino implored him, "and I promise to make your death painless." She was mostly kidding. Unless he couldn't help her.

Upon seeing Ino and her entrance, A.J. had to bite his lip. And would deny that his face was turning pink with the effort not to laugh. "Well," he said, once he trusted himself to speak without laughing, "what have you tried so far?"

"Everything!" Ino said dramatically, "I am the cleanest person on Fandom right now, seriously. It won’t go away!"

"Everything? Really?" A.J. blinked, a little surprised by that. He was thinking maybe some paint thinner, but he wasn't very sure on if that might have adverse effects on anything. Or cause, like, brain damage.

"Oh! Pink Soap! Duh! You use it to get paint out of brushes and clothes and stuff, so I bet it would work on hair, too. And it's, like, gentler, fewer chemicals, I think, so as long as it doesn't get in your eyes or mouth or anything, it shouldn't have any majorly adverse effects."

"Well, not everything everything, you know. But the number of times I've washed my hair is... yeah. A lot."

"Pink Soap?" Ino stared at him, "... and what would you consider minorly adverse effects? I don't want it to, like, turn my hair orange or anything."

"Your hair's already blue," A.J. deadpanned. "What harm is accidental orange going to do? And, I dunno, paint thinner's got all these chemicals that mess with your brain if you're exposed too much to them. That's why so many artists go crazy later in life, but I think it's reduced in Pink Soap. We could give it a try; I mean, if that doesn't work, we can go with what I first figured: bleach your hair and then dye it back to something more your natural color."

Although Ino was so freakin' blonde that just bleaching it might be close enough.

"Kabuto doesn't like orange," Ino said almost absently, before frowning thoughtfully, "... which, actually might be a bonus right now, all things considered, but I don't really want my hair any colour than the one I was born with." She liked her hair. "I don't want brain damage!"

A.J. was not going to say anything about Ino's first reaction immediately being what her boyfriend wouldn't like, but his expression said what he wasn't about to well enough. He shook his head and commented, "It should be fine. We'll try the pink soap. It might not get it entirely out right away, but I can let you keep it and you can keep trying it. Just keep it out of your eyes and away from your mouth, and you should be fine. I can even help and see, if you're not doing anything this evening."

Ino looked thoughtful. "You really don't think it'd do anything bad?" Because, yeah, no. "I don't think I've got anything planned."

She noticed his expression. "What?"

"Nothing!" A.J. said defensively, blowing over her question. "And, no, I don't think it will be. It's the best thing for an artist's brushes, and an artist has to be good to his brushes, so I'm sure it'll be fine for your hair. Really. If not, I swear, I'll pay for everything that needs to be done over at the hair place here to fix the mistakes."

Ino's look clearly expressed her disbelief, but let it go for now. For now. "Uh huh." Her lips twitched. "I'm not a giant paintbrush, but I suppose the point still stands." She tugged at a blue strand, and said, with a grin, "As if I'd let you get out of taking responsibility if anything goes wrong."
