Groovy Tunes; Monday [ 12/17 ]

No fashion or music magazines for Chad today; instead, he was flipping through a sports one, thinking fondly of the game yesterday and thinking that they totally needed to have more. Where maybe that silly Blue team would learn that they'd need a bulldozer to take him down. Thank God Teddy hated sports.

And that chain of thought led to the fact that he still needed to get holiday gifts, and he grunted before going back to reading.

Gift ideas welcome, because otherwise everyone's just getting CDs.

Jamie waved to Chad as he entered the store. "Hi. I was wondering if you had a recording of the song where all the condiments sing about going to the lobby that they play at movies?"

Straightening slightly from his magazine, Chad blinked at Jamie for a moment before saying, "Dude."

Whether that was a 'dude' indicating that Jamie was completely nuts or whether Chad thought Jamie was a genius for thinking of getting that song was impossible to tell, but, for the record, it was the latter.

"Was that a 'Yes' or 'No' kind of 'dude'?" Jamie asked. "Because there was a lot of inflection in that Dude."

Which was saying a lot. "Was a 'I wish we had that song' kind of dude."

Because Chad freaking loved those dancing concessions. Seriously.

Jamie's fell like a falling thing. "Oh. That's too bad. Do you think it can be ordered?"

"We'd have to find a CD that would have it."

What kind of CD would have it?

Chad angled himself toward the computer. "There's gotta be something out there of old, like, jingles and stuff, that nostalgics and vintage nuts are into."

"Exactly," Jamie said trying to peer over Chad and failing utterly. "Like a movie theme compilation album."

"Yeah," Chad grunted thoughtfully as he checked through various possibilities. "You'd think it's gotta be somewhere, right?"

"You would think," Jamie said hopefully. "Anything there?"

Chad's frown deepened. "I'm not coming up with anything, man..." ~~And the mun did try; wtf?~~

Jamie looked crushed.

"Oh. Okay."

"...You'd...really think there'd be something, wouldn't you?" Chad asked, trying a few more leads through the system.

"Do you have any Britney Spears?"

Chad blinked. So much for feeling that Jamie was kind of brilliant with his first request.

"...Why?"

Jamie scoffed. "Well if I can't have the lobby song I might as well have the most liked singing star ever!"

And now Chad was just concerned.

"You feeling okay, Jamie?"

"Just fine," Jamie said looking back at Chad. "Say if you don't have any Britney Spears do you have Hannah Montana?"

Chad sighed. Kids these days had no taste in music.

"Yeah, Jamie. We got both..."

"Great. Do you also have something I can set them on fire with?"

"...You really shouldn't scare a person like that, Jamie," Chad grunted, although if you looked closely, you could see he was kind of grinning. "Seriously. Had me going there. But, unfortunately, no."

"I'll have to get them elsewhere," Jamie said with a nod. "Apparently the music gods need a sacrifice."

"And that will bring us the lobby song?" Chad asked. There was a beat, a thoughtful pause, before he commented, "My next band? We'll totally do it for our album."

"Well for that you'll need at least a bucket of KFC," Jamie suggested. "Plus a photo of Trini Lopez."

"I've always liked the little gumdrop, myself."

The gumdrop was cute! Despite alleged abuse issues.

"Yes... but the gods must be appeased."

Chad was distracted. By cute dancing gumdrops. The song was going to be stuck in his head for the rest of the day, and those poor kittens were going to be stuck having to deal with him forcing them to dance around. And it was all Jamie's fault.

Coming around eventually, Chad grunted, and nodded. He didn't know what Jamie was talking about at this point; clearly, the KFC and Trini Lopez sent him off somewhere else, so he just figured he'd agree with whatever Jamie said.

"Thanks for your help, Chad!" Jamie said heading for the door. "Have a good day!"

And as Jamie was leaving he began to sing...

Watch for kittens underfoot!
